Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes farewell tour is set to get underway next month, but Martin Brundle has refuted that it’ll be an emotional one.

It’s been a few weeks now since the biggest F1 story of the year broke with Lewis Hamilton heading to Ferrari in 2025.

The move was absolutely massive for the sport and has left many questions needing to be answered over the next year.

But one question which has just been answered is whether Hamilton will be emotional in bidding Mercedes farewell. This came after the British racer described his feelings as ’emotional and surreal’, while speaking at the Mercedes W15 launch this week.

On this subject, Martin Brundle has shared his view and made a bold claim over the seven-time world champion.

Brundle gives verdict on whether Lewis Hamilton will be emotional upon Mercedes departure

Martin Brundle doesn’t believe that Lewis Hamilton will be upset about leaving Mercedes as he explained on the Sky Sports F1 podcast.

“I don’t buy all of this, ‘It’s going to be emotional leaving’… Lewis is a winning machine, and that’s what he wants to do.

“It’s a good contract, he’ll be paid a lot of money, get a lot of love and it will be one of global sport’s biggest stories in 2025.

“The teams are slightly disingenuous when they tell you about new contract signings because they only tell you edited highlights that suit them,” Brundle added.

“Clearly, they forgot to mention that Hamilton had an exit clause, which he has chosen to take very early indeed. F1 contracts can be up to 100 pages but often there is an exit clause or a performance-related clause included.”

Hamilton will be desperate to leave Mercedes on a high

While he may not be emotional about his impending departure, Hamilton will definitely not want to leave Mercedes with a whimper.

So this season we expect him to be racing harder than ever, although much will depend on the car Mercedes have developed for this year.

On the one hand, he’ll be keen to leave a lasting impression on Mercedes and get Ferrari excited for the driver they’re getting.

But on the other, if the car is poor it’ll only further justify his decision to depart the Silver Arrows.
