Logan Sargeant has shared the latest information he knows about whether he’ll be on the F1 grid in 2024 with Williams.

Sargeant was part of the pre-race driver’s press conference ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Although there are plenty of drivers who still have things to play for this weekend, arguably the driver with the highest stakes right now is Logan Sargeant.

The grid for next season is almost complete, with only the second seat at Williams left to be filled.

Alex Albon knew all the way back in August 2022 that he would be on the grid next year with the British outfit.

Sargeant hadn’t even been in Williams’s Driver Academy for 12 months at that point but was quickly promoted from Formula 2 following the end of the last campaign.

Staying in F1 for 2024 and beyond is Sargeant’s goal, but at the moment there are no guarantees.

Team principal James Vowles admitted he was impressed with his pace at Interlagos and he pulled off a brilliant qualifying performance in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to convert it into his second points-paying finish of the season.

Achieving that in Abu Dhabi is going to be tough but he needs to pull out all the stops to guarantee his place on the grid next year.

Sargeant unsure of 2024 F1 future

Asked if he was confident that he was going to retain his seat at Williams, Sargeant said: “It’s a good question, honestly, I don’t know but I think for me it’s just a case of taking it race by race.

“I feel like from a driving point of view everything’s been getting much, much better in the past however many rounds and I’m just trying to do my job the best I can.

“I think with how it’s been going recently I don’t see any issues.”

Journalist Will Buxton admitted last weekend that he expects Sargeant to still be on the F1 grid in 2024 with Williams even if official confirmation hasn’t come yet.

The team are running out of options with Felipe Drugovich sticking around at Aston Martin.

However, the gulf between Sargeant and Albon may be a concern and the Thai driver’s form is the only reason Williams are currently seventh in the Constructors’ Championship.

An extra year of experience will help Sargeant but the pressure will be on next year to close the gap on his teammate.

Otherwise, the 10 reserve drivers taking part in Free Practice tomorrow might be eyeing up his seat in the future.
