Williams driver Logan Sargeant has suggested that Formula 1 would be more fun if they abandoned one key rule.
The young American finished last in Bahrain although he suffered a technical issue with his steering wheel that ruined his race.
Speaking on the latest episode of Team Torque, Sargeant and Alex Albon were discussing one of the most talked about rules in the sport.
Sargeant wants Formula 1 to change one key rule
Logan Sargeant’s first season in F1 didn’t go particularly smoothly, but team principal James Vowles has given him one more year to prove he’s worthy of a seat on the grid.
He described his race in Bahrain as an ‘unfortunate disaster’ and will be hoping his fortunes improve in Jeddah.
The 23-year-old was once again out-qualified by teammate Alex Albon although he did benefit from the clash between Nico Hulkenberg and Lance Stroll heading into turn one.
Sargeant only scored a single point last season and has been warned by Vowles he needs to be the ‘surprise of the season’ to continue his F1 career.
He heads to a street track in Saudi Arabia where he managed an impressive feat and got a track limits warning despite the tight nature of the circuit.
However, Sargeant has said that Formula 1 would be a lot more enjoyable if they removed the rule.

He admits in times gone by the best aspects of the sport were performed when track limits weren’t heavily scrutinised.
Drivers have to be even more careful now, with the penalty for overtaking off the track doubled for the 2024 season.
Sargeant bemoans track limits
Talking about the rule, Sargeant said: “Speaking of track limits, I’ve been watching some old F1 pole laps and they’re some of the best laps but every single one of them is off track limits.
“And I think it’s way more enjoyable. Just send it!”
Teammate Alex Albon added: “You’re going to upset a few people there. I agree though.
“Just make the track the limit and give us free reign and we will always be at the limit because we know it’s tricky to feel what track limits is and isn’t.
“But also at the same time, it’s easy for people to say just don’t do them.”
It would be interesting to see how much quicker Sargeant and his Formula 1 rivals could go if the track limits rule was removed or at least relaxed.
Tracks like the Red Bull Ring in Austria see thousands of offensives recorded given the nature of the final few corners.
However, street circuits such as Jeddah, Monaco and Singapore and much more punishing when a driver misjudges a corner.
