Visa Cash App RB driver Liam Lawson has had an eventful return to Formula 1 after replacing Daniel Ricciardo following the Singapore Grand Prix.
Liam Lawson was given a very difficult weekend to get up to speed at RB with a Sprint Race event at the United States Grand Prix.
Lawson had a tense battle with Fernando Alonso during the Sprint Race before surprising many people – especially teammate Yuki Tsunoda – by scoring two points during Sunday’s race.
The young Kiwi then headed to the Mexico City Grand Prix and took on the hometown hero Sergio Perez.
The pair went wheel-to-wheel on the track and the Mexican driver ended up picking up damage that ruined his chances of scoring points, while Lawson later apologised to Perez although the stewards had no issue with his racing.

After tussling with two stalwarts of the sport, Lawson has now set his sights on McLaren in an interview with The Red Flags Podcast.
McLaren have returned to winning ways in the past 18 months and that’s reminded Lawson of something that he really doesn’t like.
Liam Lawson upset that New Zealand anthem isn’t played after McLaren F1 victories
When it’s mentioned that when McLaren win races the British anthem is played on the podium instead of the New Zealand national anthem, Lawson said: “Ah, you don’t understand! It makes no sense.
“It’s a New Zealand team, the name is still McLaren, I have no idea.

“And Red Bull play the Austrian national anthem and the team’s based in the UK, McLaren’s based in the UK but it’s New Zealand’s team.
“It’s completely b——- is what it is, honestly, especially if you’re from New Zealand. Bruce McLaren, he’s an absolute legend.”
What Liam Lawson did during the Mexican Grand Prix that would have annoyed McLaren
Lawson was in contention to score points again in Mexico until a late battle with Franco Colapinto ended with the RB driver picking up front-wing damage.
Colapinto was penalised for the collision much to the surprise of Lawson and many Formula 1 fans.
However, their battle may have ended badly, but Colapinto had already spotted Lawson doing something Red Bull would have loved.

McLaren star Lando Norris was on the charge during the second half of the race in Mexico.
After Max Verstappen overtook him off the track and then held him up to allow the Ferrari pair to drive off into the distance, Norris had a lot of ground to make up to try and win the race.
Norris managed to find a way past Leclerc after he made a big error coming out of the final corner and did brilliantly to avoid having a huge crash.
However, the Brit never managed to close down Carlos Sainz in part due to the time he lost behind Verstappen.
He also was held up by Lawson who spent nearly half a lap ahead of Norris while blue flags were being waved before finally letting him through.
While the New Zealand national anthem was unlikely to be playing in his head when he had Norris in the wing mirrors, it may have made him smile that he played a very small part in the British national anthem not being played out, especially as Norris didn’t get a good reception from the crowd in Mexico.
