The final six races of the Formula 1 season could make or break the career of Liam Lawson as he climbs into a cockpit for the first time as a full-time driver.
The Kiwi has no contract for 2025 and could find himself in three scenarios, ranging from two seats to being off the grid entirely.
The main aim will be to put his best hand forward, which could help his team secure sixth-place in the constructors’ standings and put his name in the hat for a Red Bull drive.
The only problem he faces is that Visa Cash App RB’s car is a bit off the pace it should be currently, and scoring points with little mileage will be tough.

Liam Lawson must ‘follow the example’ of Oscar Piastri
Lawson has already proven that he can step up to the plate and deliver in Formula 1, after filling in for Daniel Ricciardo under very different circumstances last year.
Fans and pundits alike called for this move to be made sooner, but better late than never, as the saying goes.
Speaking on the F1 website, Formula 2 whiz and commentator Alex Jacques delivered his assessment of the Kiwi driver.

“Liam Lawson has built a career to be proud of on adaptability,” he said. “Put simply he is fast in everything he drives – but to take this opportunity he must follow the example of Oscar Piastri and now focus this broad skill set into elite Formula 1 race craft.
“F1 is unmatched when it comes to rising expectations and high stakes. The future options for Lawson are dizzying; they range from no drive at all, full seasons at RB, or becoming Max Verstappen’s team mate at Red Bull. Too intense for some, perhaps, but not for a man who is firmly done with waiting.”
Lawson could be Max Verstappen’s next teammate
Everyone is aware that it has been a disastrous year for Sergio Perez in the second Red Bull cockpit, putting in multiple poor performances.
He just hasn’t been able to get used to the RB20, and at some point, his lack of speed is going to catch up to him.
If he fails to pull something out of the bag in the final six races, regardless of whether he holds a contract for 2025, he could very easily be out of the sport.

Talents like Oliver Bearman and Franco Colapinto have proven that the next generation is waiting for an opportunity.
Lawson taking Perez’s seat could then open a VCARB seat for the likes of Colapinto, Isack Hadjar or Dennis Hauger.
