It has not been the dream start to life at Ferrari for Lewis Hamilton, with the seven-time world champion yet to score a podium in a Grand Prix.
Ferrari looked like a lucrative offer in 2024, considering they were battling with McLaren for the Constructors’ Championship, and both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were fighting for wins regularly.
But the 2025 season has been a step back for the Maranello-based squad, with Ferrari having to deal with a fundamental car issue that cost Leclerc the Hungarian GP.
Amidst talks that Hamilton might be inclined to leave Ferrari after growing frustrated with their lack of progress, Tim Coronel is urging Hamilton to rediscover his ‘fire’ so he repeats one of his 2021 feats when speaking to RacingNews365.nl.

Lewis Hamilton urged to rediscover ‘fire’ by Tim Coronel
Hamilton showed some ‘out of character’ moments in Hungary when speaking to the media, while he is now being regularly beaten by Leclerc, who has scored almost 60% of their points at the halfway point.
Coronel is hopeful that the summer break will provide Hamilton with some time to rediscover his ‘fire’ that he had when battling Max Verstappen for the title in 2021.
“Well, I don’t know if he wants to stop, but of course, he’s not in a positive atmosphere. Wow… I can very well imagine that as a sportsman, you are always very driven, that this is now a bit demotivating,” said Coronel.
“So yes, Hamilton. I would say, find the spirit again. Because when he has found fire, we will have a lot of fun with him!”
“The battle he had with Verstappen… I thought it was magical. I hope he can find the fire now, so let’s celebrate the holiday for a while. Max is doing fun things, and Lando Norris is also enjoying himself.”

Lewis Hamilton earns support from Jackie Stewart
Hamilton has expressed his desire to make the Ferrari project work, considering the team has not won a title since 2007 with Kimi Raikkonen.
There are a lot of parallels between Hamilton’s current time at Ferrari and when Michael Schumacher joined them in 1996, although the team is winning races more regularly.
Hamilton is a significant commercial asset for Ferrari, but their on-track form has not justified their multi-million-pound partnership.
Jackie Stewart has backed Hamilton amid his struggles in a recent interview, although it is worrying that there are rumours around the Briton potentially not seeing out his contract duration.
