Lewis Hamilton has been praised for a ‘wonderful’ show of respect towards Max Verstappen after their Formula 1 feud.
Hamilton and Verstappen were the stars of the show during the 2021 F1 season, with the title going down to the wire.
In the end, Verstappen was crowned champion under extremely controversial circumstances.
A few years on, the pair were involved in a tense battle during last weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, with P2 on the line.
Hamilton was the car behind and produced a vintage late braking move to overtake Verstappen, who left sufficient racing room.
Eventually, Hamilton managed to keep Verstappen behind to secure his best finish as a Ferrari driver.

Reacting to the Hamilton and Verstappen battle, F1 pundit Marc Surer praised the pair for showing respect and maturity.
The Swiss went on to say that they are no longer ‘sworn enemies’ following the 2021 battle.
Surer said on CHAMP1: “It was incredibly fair between the two of them. Well, it was really nice to watch the two of them. Two professionals who used to fight each other but are no longer sworn enemies.
“Yes, in 2021, it was done with a crowbar. Yes, and they hated each other and now we’ve felt that they respect each other. That was wonderful to watch.
“Over the years, the two have also become somewhat friendly again. The fact that they have reconciled over the years suggests that they are men and not children.”

Speaking after the race, a jubilant Hamilton admitted that it was ‘awesome’ to fight ‘one of the greats’.
The seven-time world champion went on to say that the Ferrari and Red Bull are ‘relatively close’.
As reported by Sky Sports, Hamilton said: “It was awesome, absolutely awesome to fight with one of the greats. It was massively challenging. I think our cars are relatively close. In qualifying, we were relatively close.
“I think whilst we’re probably a little bit quicker through the corners, everything you gain in the corner, they gain on the straight.
“Obviously, I lost a bit of time, he was quicker at the beginning of the race and then once he got into the medium, I was able to hunt him down.
“And I love that hunt. That’s my whole life has been about that since a kid, since I had a really old go-kart, I was just always hunting. So, it was amazing to be back in that position and hunting down a champion up ahead.”
