Lando Norris set the fastest time during the practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix, after snatching the top of the timings from McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri.
Ahead of the only practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, Alpine announced that it had re-signed Franco Colapinto for the 2026 season.
It followed weeks of speculation that the young Argentine would continue with the team next year, with the team opting not to sign reserve driver Paul Aron.
Yuki Tsunoda had a big shunt at Turn 4 early in the session, catching the kerb and spinning into the barriers.
The Red Bull driver managed to get his car back to the pitlane, but it’s an unlucky incident which lost him valuable practice time, after returning to the track with 25 minutes remaining.
At the halfway point of the session, George Russell topped timings ahead of Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz.
Championship contenders Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris found themselves in 8th and 10th respectively, as all cars opted for hard tyre running.
Verstappen saw similar struggles to his teammate at Turn 4, struggling with an oversnap of steering, which also saw him go off the track.
The Dutchman returned to the track just ahead of Russell with the pair looking like they were almost racing heading into the next corner before the Mercedes dropped back.
Piastri looked comfortably at the top of the timings in the first parts of the qualifying session, however Norris came in with a late final lap, which saw him snatch the top of the timing sheet from the Aussie.
