Reigning world champion Lando Norris has picked out four Formula 1 drivers who he thinks are ‘a level above’ the rest.
Norris, 26, reached the pinnacle of motorsports last year when he won his maiden F1 world title following a mammoth tussle with Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.
Having trailed for the majority of the season, Norris ended up finishing just two points ahead of Verstappen, with Piastri third after a sudden drop in form.
On the back of winning the title, Norris will now be forever remembered as an F1 world champion, joining a list of illustrious drivers such as Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
Has Lando Norris given us the simple solution to fix F1?
Lando Norris names four F1 drivers who are ‘a level above’ the rest
Speaking to Sky Sports reporter Rachel Brookes in her new book, ‘F1 Racing Drive’, Norris named four drivers who he thinks are ‘a level above’ the rest.
The Brit picked out Verstappen, Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel as those whom he respects the most.
Brookes wrote: “It is understandable that today’s generation names its peers as those who stand out. And for the 2025 Formula 1 world champion, Lando Norris, born in 1999. They are drivers he has raced alongside who spring to mind.
“He explained: “I go off the people that I respect the most, and that’s only people I’ve been against. What I can’t comment on is people that I have never been against. Lewis, Max, Fernando, Seb, these are the people I grew up watching the most.
“These are the people who are always a little bit different, in their own little ways, they always stood out that little bit more. And obviously, the results back that up.
“Max, Lewis, Fernando, Seb, for me, those are the people I think are just a level above everybody else.”

What did Lewis Hamilton say to Lando Norris ahead of the 2025 title decider in Abu Dhabi?
Heading into the final day of the 2025 season in Abu Dhabi, Norris, Verstappen and Piastri were all still in with a chance of winning the title.
In the end, Norris finished third in the Grand Prix behind Piastri and Verstappen, which was just enough to win the world championship.
Having been involved in multiple title battles and winning seven of them, Hamilton handed Norris an important piece of advice before the race in Abu Dhabi.
Brookes added: “Having grown up watching him, it must have been surreal to receive a text message from Sir Lewis Hamilton prior to the deciding race in Abu Dhabi, telling him he could do it, and just carry on doing what he had been doing.”
