Lance Stroll appeared to disagree with Fernando Alonso over Aston Martin’s vibrations issue following the Miami Grand Prix.

So far in 2026, it has been well documented that Aston Martin have suffered intense vibrations from the Honda-powered engine, causing issues for both Stroll and Alonso.

Back in March, Adrian Newey claimed that the vibrations could lead to ‘permanent nerve damage’ for their drivers.

During F1’s month-long break, it has been suggested that Honda have been working around the clock to improve the power unit and introduce countermeasures for the Miami Grand Prix.

On Sunday, it looked like the improvements had worked as both Stroll and Alonso finished the race in 15th and 17th, respectively.

Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso disagree over Aston Martin vibrations issue

As reported by Planet F1, Alonso said that the vibrations were ‘gone’ but the biggest issue was the gearbox.

He said after qualifying: “All the vibration work, let’s say we can tick that box, because the car behaves normal now. No issues to finish the race tomorrow. No reliability concerns.”

However, after the Miami Grand Prix, Stroll appeared to disagree with Alonso when he was asked about his car’s vibrations.

The Canadian hinted that the vibrations are still there but have been reduced, disagreeing with Alonso’s comment that they are ‘gone’.

As per Jorge Peiro, Stroll said: “There were less vibrations, yeah.”

Fernando Alonso reveals ‘fix number one’ ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix

Although the vibrations are gone for Alonso, the Spaniard stated in Miami that the gearbox has now become Aston Martin’s main problem.

The 44-year-old experienced problems with both downshifts and upshifts and has stated that it will be important for the team to improve the gearbox ahead of the race in Montreal.

Alonso said: “Honestly, it was more the gearbox the whole weekend than the engine, so I don’t know the electronics or something.

“It was very weird on the downshifts and the upshifts, so not very well in control. So that’s the fix number one for Canada. I think with all these heavy braking in Canada, we need to improve the gearbox behaviour at the moment.”

With the vibrations resolved, Aston Martin can now concentrate on further improvements to bring out more performance from the AMR26.
