Kimi Antonelli has made it three in a row as he beats Lando Norris to win the Miami Grand Prix for Mercedes.
The Miami Grand Prix was moved forward by three hours to avoid potential delays with the forecast thunderstorms. The predicted rain did not arrive during the race, but that did not stop a chaotic affair.
Polesitter Antonelli would have been hoping to hold on to his lead on the opening lap. However, the Italian has struggled with starts, and no driver has won in Miami from the front row – the first streak continued, but the second did not.

Charles Leclerc showcased Ferrari’s strength at the start as he propelled into the lead. Antonelli ran wide as he lost position to Max Verstappen, but the Red Bull star spun at turn two and narrowly avoided being collected by other drivers.
Antonelli re-took the lead from Leclerc on lap four before they swapped positions again the following lap. Sprint winner Lando Norris entered the battle and took second from the Mercedes driver, with the trio putting up a great fight.
The Miami GP’s chaotic start saw two big incidents on lap six, as Isack Hadjar slammed into the barriers at turn 15. Shortly after, Pierre Gasly was hit by Liam Lawson at turn 17 and barrel-rolled into the barriers, bringing out the safety car.

Verstappen pitted under the safety car and dropped to P16. At the front, Leclerc did not hold his advantage for long as Norris stormed into the lead and looked to pull away from the field.
Ferrari put themselves out of contention as they botched Leclerc’s pit stop. The Mongasque driver was not impressed with the team’s timing to bring him into the pits, and the slow stop added insult to injury.
Antonelli regained the lead after McLaren pitted Norris, leaving it to be a two-horse race at the front. The Mercedes star complained about issues with the gearbox, potentially opening the door for the McLaren to win.

But the Silver Arrows seemed to find a quick fix as the Italian pulled away and maintained a strong advantage to win his third race in a row and extend his lead in the championship. Norris was second, with Oscar Piastri finishing third after Leclerc spun on the final lap.
The Ferrari sustained damage to his car, dropping to sixth behind George Russell and Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton could only manage seventh after sustaining damage on the opening lap with Franco Colapinto, who finished a strong P8. Williams’ Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon rounded off the points places.
