Karun Chandhok has explained that he thinks McLaren have played a ‘blinder’ by locking down both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

The resurgence of McLaren has been amazing to see in the second half of this season.

Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have stepped up after being given a car capable of challenging anyone.

The highlight coming most recently at the Qatar Grand Prix last weekend which saw a double podium for the British team.

Earlier in the weekend, Piastri also won his first race type event as he won the Sprint on Saturday.

Two of the best up-and-coming drivers, both in orange is something Karun Chandhok has been impressed by.

Chandhok on McLaren making moves

Speaking on Sky Sports F1, Chandhok was raving about McLaren and Zak Brown’s two drivers.

He began by stating the driver market is an interesting one, “I think this is a really interesting time in the driver market because we’re in a little bit of a pause until we see what happens for next year.”

He then began the praise of McLaren, “I think McLaren and Zak [Brown, CEO] have played a blinder by locking down Oscar because they got Lando for the next two years, and Oscar has proved to be a little star, hasn’t he?”

“They’ve got driving stability and, actually, now they’re in quite a good position of strength negotiating because Lando’s now locked in for the next two years, Oscar’s beyond it. It’ll be fun times, the next couple of seasons, with all that.”
