Juan Pablo Montoya has warned Lewis Hamilton about one rival F1 team that he thinks will be out for “total revenge” at this weekend’s British Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion is hoping to achieve a record-extending 10th win at the British Grand Prix this weekend, but faces stern competition from compatriots Lando Norris and George Russell.

With Russell arriving at Silverstone off the back of his victory in the Austrian Grand Prix, the Mercedes ace will certainly fancy his chances of securing a maiden home Grand Prix win in front of the British fans.

Norris, on the other hand, will be hoping to defend his victory from last year’s edition of the British Grand Prix. It may prove to be very difficult, though, given McLaren’s gap to the frontrunners that has been present on recent race weekends.

However, F1 pundit Juan Pablo Montoya believes Hamilton needs to keep one eye on Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who secured a season-best P2 finish last time out in Austria.

The recent Austrian Grand Prix portrayed the latest chapter in Verstappen and Hamilton’s F1 rivalry, with both of the sport’s giants duking it out for track position at the Red Bull Ring in the early stages of the race.

Verstappen came out on top as he charged from P5 on the grid to P2 at the chequered flag, and the Dutchman could be forgiven for feeling hard done by not having secured victory over Russell due to the controversial ending to Saturday’s qualifying session.

As such, Montoya is expecting Verstappen to return with a vengeance this weekend, in an attempt to scupper Hamilton’s hopes of becoming the home hero once again at the iconic Silverstone circuit.

“Silverstone is going to be really interesting right now because these are the sort of races where, if you’re Antonelli, you can make an emotional impact,” he began, via the MontoyAS podcast. “These are the races that are very important to George emotionally.

“It’s very important for the team because the team is based just 10 minutes from here. But also, Antonelli knows that if he can beat George here, it’ll be a massive blow to his pride. So these are the races where Antonelli can make a difference.

“In the same way that Charles can get back into the fight against Lewis and put pressure on him, this is a good place for that. It’s probably one of Lewis’s best tracks, and he can make a difference here.

“On the other hand, Red Bull comes with a desire for total revenge, and they’re looking to go flat out. This is a track where, if we’re limited on energy, Red Bull’s power, which comes from the most powerful engine of them all, could prove very interesting.
