Jenson Button seriously impressed by something Williams have just done before the Las Vegas Grand Prix

Williams Racing had a race to forget at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix that left them with plenty of work to do before the final triple-header of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix represents the final race in the United States this year and one of F1’s showpiece events.

Although the race got off to a tricky start last year when Carlos Sainz hit a drain cover that caused hours of delays, F1 will hope the event runs more smoothly this time around.

Las Vegas have made some tweaks to the schedule that will impact fans around the world, but one worry was that there wouldn’t be 20 cars at the event.

Everyone in the Williams garage could only watch on in Brazil as Franco Colapinto crashed in Q1 before Alex Albon hit the barriers in Q3.

With qualifying moved to Sunday morning, Williams didn’t have time to fix Albon’s car, but they managed to get Colapinto’s onto the grid.

Unfortunately, Colapinto was unable to keep his car on track during the race and was the reason a race-changing red flag came out that helped Max Verstappen secure an emphatic victory.

This left Williams with a huge amount of work to do in the three-week break before the upcoming race in Las Vegas.

However, they appear to be ready for the street race in Sin City and former F1 world champion Jenson Button has reacted on Instagram to the work his old team have done.

Colapinto’s car was barely in one piece after he aquaplaned into the barriers behind the safety car halfway through the race at Interlagos.

It was a low point in the Argentinian’s short but impressive F1 career, especially in front of thousands of fans who had travelled specifically from his native land.

Albon’s car was also destroyed after failing to make the first corner on his final run in Q3 after he looked like he could secure his best grid spot of the season.

Williams received both cars a few days after the race and had to assess what could be fixed and what needed replacing.

However, Williams will have both cars ready for Las Vegas and responded to the video the team released of the repairs, Button said: “This is what I love about @williamsracing.

“We are 21 races in and they still have the energy and determination to get 2 cars on the grid for Vegas.”

Williams need a miracle to avoid disappointing Constructors’ Championship finish

Before the race in Sao Paulo, Williams had the slimmest advantage over Alpine in the Constructors’ Championship with four races remaining.

The reliability and performance advantage possessed by the top four teams made securing a hefty points haul particularly difficult.

However, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly both finishing on the podium was a huge blow for team principal James Vowles.

Williams sit 17 points ahead of Sauber and it would be unbelievable if they managed to close that deficit given how poor their car is.

Unfortunately, the Grove-based team need to more than double their tally to reach RB in 8th in the championship, with Williams losing millions of pounds in crash damage and even more than that in potential prize money after their disastrous weekend in Brazil.
