Isack Hadjar’s Monaco podium under threat as Alpine demand review of Pierre Gasly penalty

Isack Hadjar might have to surrender his first podium finish with Red Bull, as Alpine have called for a review of Pierre Gasly’s two pit lane penalties.

Gasly received two separate penalties during the Monaco Grand Prix for speeding in the pit lane. He served the first penalty during the red flag stoppage.

However, a second penalty later in the race forced Gasly to surrender what initially looked like a P3 finish for the French driver.

However, it appears Pierre Gasly and Alpine are protesting this decision from the FIA, which could force Isack Hadjar to give up his P3 finish.

Alpine announce decision to review Pierre Gasly penalty

In a statement on social media, Alpine announced that they would be enacting their right to review the penalties imposed on Pierre Gasly.

There is no word yet on what basis they will be appealing this decision, but the belief is that Alpine believe that Gasly didn’t exceed the speed limit in the pit lane.

If this review is successful, it would give Gasly his first podium this season and help Alpine create a further gap between themselves and Racing Bulls, whose double points haul has reduced the gap between the two to just two points.

It will be interesting to see how this result affects Isack Hadjar, especially considering how Hadjar and Red Bull escaped a penalty for flouting the rules on working on their car during the red flag stoppage.
