Formula 1 has strong French representation once more after a nearly 30-year period without much to write home about. They have three drivers to watch out for in 2026.

The most exciting of them all might be Isack Hadjar, who has been promoted to an important role at Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen.

He spent just one year learning the ropes at Racing Bulls before a decision was made to give him yet another fresh start for the 2026 F1 regulations.

He’s not expected to win the drivers’ championship, but one would expect that he’ll get the chance to win the odd race if he performs well.

Now that he has been able to reflect a bit, Hadjar was surprised by Lewis Hamilton in his rookie season, and just how much he came across his idol on track.

Looking to the future, Hadjar thinks being Verstappen’s teammate is a ‘huge privilege’, and it’s an experience that he knows he can learn from. It should make him a better driver.

Helmut Marko gave Hadjar multiple warnings and has reminded him not to arrive at his new team expecting to win immediately.

It’s going to take time for him to adjust and learn everything properly. That experience is a key advantage Verstappen already holds over him, but it will dwindle with time.

Speaking on the Talking Bull podcast about his dream Formula 1 teammate, he was asked which driver he would pick who is no longer on the grid. His answer, considering he’s French, might surprise a few people.

“I’m still going for Lewis [Hamilton]. Ayrton [Senna, if they’re not on the grid].

“Unreal. Legend [Prost]. Because again, huge Senna fan, and as a kid, I was rooting for Ayrton, and as I grew up, more and more appreciating what Prost did, actually. You actually look at his career, he has had the most beautiful career in terms of stats and teams he has joined.

“He has won with all the great teams, he had all the toughest teammates, and I love his approach. Using his head.”

Hadjar has flaws to eradicate, but he’s just finished his rookie campaign. It’s going to take time before he can be considered a finished product, and if there’s anyone he can learn from, Prost is a great start.

Isack Hadjar reveals the ‘best moment’ he shared with Alain Prost in 2025

Ted Kravitz is ‘worried’ for Hadjar and how he will cope being alongside one of the greatest drivers of all time.

His merciless approach has destroyed many who came before him, but he should have the support network around him to have a good go at it.

Away from the track, there’s no doubt that he should continue to have a great time. In 2025, he shared a moment with his father that he will hold onto for a long time.

“My dad is a physicist, and he always wanted to meet Alain Prost because he’s the only like driver [with the nickname professor]. He was here when I gave him my helmet,” said Hadjar.

“Actually, the best moment was seeing my dad, who actually watched Prost live racing. He got to spend a bit of time with him, and I was so hyped for my dad, it was the best moment.”
