Now that Isack Hadjar has had time to understand how Max Verstappen works in the Red Bull garages, the young Frenchman has revealed how impressed he is with the Dutchman’s attention to detail.
After Red Bull announced that Yuki Tsunoda wouldn’t be part of their full-time driver line-up for the 2026 F1 campaign, Isack Hadjar has been in the spotlight.
None of Max Verstappen’s teammates have been able to shine since the departure of Daniel Ricciardo to Renault for the 2019 season, with Sergio Perez previously dubbing it the “worst job in F1.”
However, somebody has to do it, and Hadjar is the latest man to be given the nod by the higher-ups at the Milton Keynes-based team.
Hadjar has admitted that facing Verstappen is ‘a bit scary’, but he has also shown signs of wanting to be the first driver to break the notorious second-seat curse at Red Bull.
He has the backing of team principal Laurent Mekies, so it’s possible for the 21-year-old to take a lot of confidence from the faith that his compatriot has put in him.
Is Max Verstappen unfairly painted as a villain?
Isack Hadjar has been impressed by Max Verstappen’s attention to detail at Red Bull
During an interview with journalists upon the conclusion of the first three-day test in Bahrain, Hadjar was asked about what it’s been like to partner with Verstappen inside the Red Bull garages so far.
The 21-year-old replied, via Speedweek, “We’re currently in the middle of preparations, and it’s quite impressive how detailed he already is.”
Given the long list of accolades that Verstappen has accrued over the course of his illustrious F1 career, Hadjar also highlighted how it doesn’t come as any surprise to him.
He added, “It’s very impressive. But he’s already been in Formula 1 for eleven years. In that respect, I’m not entirely surprised.”
Hadjar previously disclosed how influential Verstappen has been for him during his rise up the single-seater calendar until he finally reached the F1 grid ahead of the 2025 campaign.
A Red Bull seat was the natural step up for Hadjar, and now that he has got his opportunity, the Frenchman must show that he is capable of taking the fight to the 28-year-old’s doorstep.

Isack Hadjar also gave his opinion on the new F1 regulations that currently have drivers split
During his chat with the journalists, Hadjar also gave his opinion on the new rulebook that F1 teams have followed during the development of the 2026 challengers.
Verstappen has voiced his frustrations with them already, but Hadjar has a more optimistic view on them.
He said, “It still feels like Formula 1. But as a driver, you want to drive cars that can break lap records. That’s what you dream of as a child; you want to drive fast cars.
“It requires a bit more thought; it’s a bit more difficult for everyone. Driving isn’t as natural, but it creates more opportunities for drivers to make a difference, that much is certain.”
