Isack Hadjar has been one of the standout rookies of the 2025 season, having recently achieved his highest finishing position at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Frenchman bounced back from two brushes with the barriers on track in Friday practice and qualified inside the top 10 places, going quicker than Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda.

Hadjar has been compared to Max Verstappen by Helmut Marko, having impressed him in the opening races with his discipline on track.

Before the season, there were mixed thoughts on whether Hadjar was too ’emotional’ to handle F1 after hearing some of his team radio outbursts in F2.

Discussing his form on the F1 Nation podcast, Alex Brundle revealed one thing he told him about why his team radio messages are calmer in F1 compared to his time in the feeder category.

Alex Brundle reveals what Isack Hadjar told him about his team radio messages

Coming into F1 as one of six rookies, Hadjar already had a reputation for being similar to Tsunoda in Formula 2.

His team radio outbursts became the subject of a meme, but he has been comparatively calm when speaking to Jose Fontestad.

“He’s always been very emotional on the radio. So prior to his Formula 1 debut, I wondered whether he’d be fluctuating in his performances. So his consistency has surprised me,” said Brundle.

“He told me back in Saudi Arabia that the radio messages that he always used to give, he still says in his helmet, he just doesn’t press the button!”
