Isack Hadjar has been the star of the rookies in the Formula 1 field, having regularly scored points for Racing Bulls.

The Frenchman has surprised everyone in the F1 paddock with how well he has adapted to the car, while also consistently beating experienced teammate Liam Lawson.

Although Lawson has been through a tough period this year after being demoted from Red Bull, the 23-year-old has yet to beat Hadjar in the races.

Lawson has also struggled to outqualify Hadjar, having only done so at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this year.

Hadjar remarked how Lawson was incredibly quick in Jeddah, but he has struggled to repeat those performances lately.

If Hadjar continues his upward trajectory, he will likely be in F1 for a few years to come. Discussing who he would most like as his teammate on the Beyond the Grid podcast, Hadjar chose a fellow Frenchman.

Isack Hadjar would ‘love’ to be teammates with Pierre Gasly

F1 is currently experiencing an influx of French drivers after a lull period in the 00s, with there now being three on the grid from the European country.

When asked who he would most like to be teammates with on the grid by host Tom Clarkson, Hadjar admitted that he would ‘love’ to have one as his teammate.

Clarkson: “Can you imagine being a teammate of Pierre [Gasly’s] in the future?”
Hadjar: “I would love to! It would be cool.”

Gasly has scored 447 points throughout his F1 career, having also won his first and only race in the 2020 season at Monza while racing for Racing Bulls (then AlphaTauri).

Isack Hadjar has ‘ferocious’ intelligence according to Racing Bulls engineers

Hadjar has not gone unnoticed in the F1 paddock, with Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen noting how he has been impressed by the Frenchman and his results.

Red Bull is likely looking at promoting Hadjar in the future, given how well he has adapted to F1 since he was known as a bit of a hot head in F2 due to his frantic radio messages.

Racing Bulls engineers have noted Hadjar’s ‘ferocious intelligence’ while working with him so far this season.

If Hadjar does receive a promotion, some ex-F1 drivers have urged Hadjar to turn it down on the basis that he should use the time to develop as a driver before making the step.
