Ferrari’s aggressive upgrade strategy has certainly been paying off on recent race weekends, and there is still a lot more to come from the iconic Italian racing outfit.
The Prancing Horse might not be leading either F1 world championship after nine rounds of racing now in the books, but you can’t say that they aren’t trying.
Which Ferrari driver has the edge on pure SPEED?
Since the new season of technical regulations got underway in March, Ferrari have brought a total of four major upgrade packages to the SF-26, as well as some minor updates here and there to better synergise the overall package of the 2026-spec F1 car.
A rear corner redesign, as well as some winglet amendments, aided Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton with a more aerodynamically efficient rear-end at the British Grand Prix, with a revised rear wing also giving both drivers a subtle boost in straight-line speed.
There is still plenty more to come from the Maranello-based engineers, however.

Ferrari believe ‘the best is yet to come’ as more upgrades planned for the 2026 F1 season
After being granted two tokens of development by the FIA through its ADUO initiative, the Scuderia put one of those to use in Austria in a bid to improve the power of their engine – an Achilles heel that Hamilton has not been happy about this year.

According to a report by SoyMotor, the powertrain and chassis departments are working in tandem for the SF-26’s next big upgrade, which is set to further enhance the concept that Loic Serra has been pushing for since development for 2026 began.
While a timeline on the power unit is yet to be disclosed, the new aero package is expected to land after the summer break at the Dutch Grand Prix. The report states that an engine upgrade should be in use ‘around that time’, too.
In somewhat of a bold prediction for Ferrari’s beloved Tifosi, engineers told the Spanish publication that ‘the best is yet to come’ as they look to advance on the two Grand Prix victories that have been secured by Hamilton and Leclerc, respectively, so far this year.
Seeing their drivers on the top step of the podium has done wonders for the confidence of those working on the Prancing Horse’s 2026 challenger, with the report also noting that the atmosphere at the moment in Maranello is ‘exhilarating’.
Ferrari’s engine has been tipped to be the only thing letting them down this year, so if engineers are able to bring the powertrain back into a similar area as their rivals, an end to the Scuderia’s title drought could be imminent.
