Commentator David Croft has shared the exact race where he thinks McLaren star Lando Norris will earn his first win in Formula 1.

Croft was speaking after the Las Vegas Grand Prix driver’s press conference with anticipation building around the most anticipated race of the season.

Although no world titles are going to be won or lost in Las Vegas, how the city celebrates the arrival of F1 is exciting to see.

The opening ceremony was one of the grandest events seen on the grid this year and if this year’s event is a success, then you can imagine the festivities will only increase in the future.

More than half the current grid have a Formula 1 win under their belt, including a few surprises such as Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.

Arguably the best driver yet to stand on the top step of the podium is Lando Norris.

The 24-year-old has competed in more than 100 Grand Prix and has the joint-most podiums of any driver in the sport’s history without securing a victory.

However, David Croft has now shared the exact race where he thinks Norris will get his first win.

He’s got scientific method behind his call, although the young Brit might hope he doesn’t have to wait as long as he’s suggesting to finally stand on the top step of the podium.

Croft declares when Norris will get first F1 win

Asked by presenter Natalie Pinkham how long until Norris bags his first win, Croft said: “Canada next year and I’ve actually got to thank Ollie from Formula Nerds for this one.

“Lando Norris got his 13th podium after 102 races, just as Jenson Button got his 13th podium from the same amount of races and Jenson’s next podium was his first win and that was race 113 and that will be Canada next year.

“You’ve heard it here first, Canada next year.”

If Norris’s career can mimic that of Jenson Button then he would be delighted.

The British driver secured a world championship with Brawn GP and is regarded as one of the best drivers of his generation.

As Croft suggests, Norris will want to secure that first win as quickly as possible otherwise the pressure will begin to build on him when the opportunity comes around.

Even his teammate Oscar Piastri has a victory to his name although it doesn’t technically count as it came in the Sprint Race in Qatar.

The pressure is on McLaren to build a car that’s even more competitive next year so that they can consistently compete with Red Bull at the front of the grid.
