Guenther Steiner has suggested that Lewis Hamilton will be back on the podium at the Chinese Grand Prix.

A week after the opening round of the 2026 Formula 1 season, the championship enters its second round with the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.

The majority of the talk surrounding the sport has been focused on Mercedes after their dominance in the opening race of the season in Australia, where George Russell claimed victory, and Kimi Antonelli finished in second.

However, there have been discussions surrounding Ferrari and their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. In the opening race of the season, Leclerc featured on the podium with Russell and Antonelli, but there have been suggestions that Hamilton may be the Ferrari podium sitter this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton over Charles Leclerc in the Chinese Grand Prix

Whilst appearing on The Red Flags Podcast, Guenther Steiner revealed his predictions for the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend.

Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Steiner was correct in his podium call for the opening race of the season, and for this weekend has gone for Russell, Hamilton and Antonelli.

He explained his decision to pick Hamilton over Leclerc due to the British drivers ‘pretty good’ record at the Chinese Grand Prix from the past.

When asked for his podium prediction, Steiner said, “George, Lewis, and Kimi.”

Steiner justified his decision of picking Hamilton over Leclerc by saying, “I think he is pretty good in China, there is something there that he likes. If you think he was good there with the car he did not like, so I think he will be.”

The Formula 1 paddock believes Ferrari are better than Mercedes

After the opening race of the season, from the outside looking in, it appeared that Mercedes had developed the best car for the 2026 season.

However, there have been suggestions from inside the paddock that the Ferrari is actually the better car, and that the Mercedes just worked well ‘in all areas’ for the Australian Grand Prix.

However, former engineer Mark Slade, has revealed what Ferrari’s main weakness is when they are developing a new car.

Slade revealed that the different departments at Ferrari are not ‘integrated’ and that there is a lack of communication between the different departments.
