Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari tenure is not going how he planned it would, and there is a lot of room for improvement.
The Briton sits sixth in the drivers’ championship after 13 races, and is yet to step onto the podium in scarlet red.
In fact, Hamilton is now on the longest run of his Formula 1 career without a rostrum, even through struggles with McLaren and Mercedes.
It’s up to Ferrari to find a fix for him, and they’ve been working hard recently. Multiple changes were made at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hamilton is ‘upset’ about a suggestion for his future that he could walk away from his team at the end of 2025. It’s not an option to him.
After months of trying to find fixes, Hamilton ‘mentally’ has one problem with Ferrari’s car and it’s one with no immediate fix. He can’t connect with the SF25.

Guenther Steiner concerned by Lewis Hamilton’s radio interaction at the Belgian Grand Prix
Hamilton didn’t look like himself at the Belgian Grand Prix and has been adjusting to so many new things in 2025. One that has irked him in particular is his new engineer, Riccardo Adami.
At one point in the race, they had a bit of a heated exchange. “I can’t attack because I’ve got no fuel, mate! Can I keep pushing or not?” said Hamilton.
Ex-Haas boss Guenther Steiner has now revealed his stance on the situation. He thinks that the current relationship is ‘not good’.
“Lewis calling out his engineers is a bad sign,” was the statement put to Steiner.
“Yes, full gas. Full gas. You cannot go more full throttle it’s like first, second and third gear, just a straight line [he agrees],” he replied.
“If the driver needs to explain [to] the engineers [that] the results are not good, I think how about the engineers telling Lewis ‘Lewis, the track limits are there, you shouldn’t go over them by the way, if you didn’t know that, we tell you.’
“I mean, the engineers are pretty smart people, and then again, they’ve got Fred Vasseur there as well to do his job. I respect Fred, he’s doing a good job, it’s just not as easy.”
Lewis Hamilton warned he has done something ‘detrimental’ at Ferrari
The second half of the season is set up to be far better for Hamilton than the first half was. A change in brake pads at Spa, as well as a suspension update, will pay dividends.
It means that Hamilton can unleash an F1 superpower at Ferrari. It could be the extra pace needed to challenge for trophies.
Their rate of progression depends on what their rivals bring to the table, too. McLaren still have an advantage, but they could be vulnerable at some tracks.
Hamilton has done something ‘detrimental’ at Ferrari, with Gary Anderson believing that him emailing a list of requests to the team was not a good thing.
But with 2026 approaching rapidly, there isn’t much time left before he approaches what is the last year on his deal with the Scuderia.
