George Russell has sent Lando Norris a congratulatory message on Instagram after his incredible podium at the British Grand Prix.
Russell posted on social media after the Mercedes driver recorded a fifth-place finish.
It was a decent outing for Russell, but the stars of the show yesterday were the McLarens.
Lando Norris and rookie teammate Oscar Piastri started second and third after a fantastic qualifying session.
Norris then did what many believed was impossible this season and led the first few laps ahead of the unstoppable Max Verstappen.
It only took the Dutch driver a few laps to retake the lead, although he didn’t pull away from the McLarens as he has in many other races this season.
Norris held onto second place even after switching onto the hard tyres when Lewis Hamilton was on the softs.

Russell has now sent a message to Norris after his first podium of the season.
He’ll be hoping his Mercedes can keep up with Norris and Piastri when the teams head to Hungary in two weeks.
Russell sends Norris message after brilliant British Grand Prix
Taking on Instagram after the race, Russell said: “Lando, well done mate, you deserve it!
“P5 today after unfortunate timing of the Safety Car, but great to have two Brits up there with LH on the podium and a strong team result overall.
“Thank you so much for all the home support, it’s been genuinely incredible.”

Lando Norris was unsurprisingly named driver of the day and should have been joined by his teammate on the podium.
Oscar Piastri has impressed this season and looked comfortable in third place before the pit stops.
However, the safety car came out just after he changed his tyres, allowing Lewis Hamilton to leapfrog him.

He was also on hard tyres and George Russell on the mediums never got close enough to challenge him during the race.
Russell and Norris are very close and it’s no surprise he sent such a kind message.
F1 fans up and down the grid will be pleased to see McLaren finally developing a car that can challenge at the front of the grid.
