Ferrari haven’t been able to extract much performance from the SF25 this season and it’s still yet to win a Grand Prix after 18 attempts.
Not even in the hands of the legendary Lewis Hamilton, or the supremely talented Charles Leclerc, has it managed to produce much more than the odd podium. Ferrari took a bold gamble to change a lot of a very good car over the winter, and it’s safe to say that it backfired.
They’re still in the hunt for second place in the constructors’ championship, but Mercedes are now in the driving seat with a 25-point advantage. Their cars also have looked much quicker recently, while the Scuderia have been plagued with other issues, such as the brake failure Hamilton suffered in Singapore.
Ferrari staff are losing faith in Fred Vasseur, and some haven’t backed some of the changes that he has introduced since joining the team. Leclerc suffered a ‘mystery’ weight issue at the last race, and has been mystified at regular intervals with his car in 2025.

Fred Vasseur disagrees with Charles Leclerc and believes Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car still has potential
Leclerc is in discussions with Mercedes and might be showing signs that he is growing fed up with the situation at his team. He’s in his seventh season with them and hasn’t really had the chance to compete for a title yet.
Just last week, Vasseur clashed with a Ferrari engineer, and the growing signs of discontent within the organisation are a worrying sign of destabilisation ahead of the 2026 F1 regulations. Going winless won’t do them any favours with their Tifosi, either.
According to the Italian edition of Motorsport.com, Vasseur still believes that the SF25 has the potential to go fast, but that it just hasn’t been extracted yet. The rest of the racing department seems to believe otherwise, though.
Leclerc is benefiting from Hamilton and some of the ideas he has brought from Mercedes. The experience of what it takes to be a championship-winning outfit should be important in 2026, and if that fails, then there could be a complete transformation on the horizon.
After insisting he could win a race this season, Leclerc’s confidence in Ferrari winning is ‘wavering’ and he has slowly realised that his competitors are just better. McLaren and Red Bull are a league above, and for Ferrari to win a race, some chaos will be required.

Why Ferrari will be eager to sign off from the 2025 Formula 1 season
With the exception of being taken out by Kimi Antonelli in Zandvoort, Leclerc has seen the chequered flag at every race this season.
He leads his seven-time champion teammate in both the qualifying and race head-to-heads by some margin, and has been unfazed by his arrival.
In fact, the two have worked well together, and it’s a good sign for the future. The Monegasque driver is approaching the peak of his career at the age of 27, and will be a feared opponent for some time yet.
Leclerc had a look of ‘total resignation’ about his performance in Singapore, and that’s rare for a man who is usually not afraid of shielding his team from criticism. 2026 can’t come soon enough at Maranello.
