Franco Colapinto remains the only current full-time Formula 1 driver without a point to his name during the 2025 season.
The Argentine driver has struggled with Alpine’s car since taking over from Jack Doohan earlier in the campaign, and sits second from bottom in the drivers’ championship. He hasn’t delivered on the glimpse of promise he showed with Williams in 2024.
Colapinto is yet to find out where he will be racing next season, and he’s running out of time to prove himself before the 2026 F1 regulations come into effect. Current boss Flavio Briatore is known for his cut-throat nature, and he won’t wait forever for him to start delivering results.
Braitore was slammed for an ‘unnecessary’ statement about his driver’s future just last week, but it now seems that he has just two options for next year. Pierre Gasly wants Alpine to sign an ‘extremely fast’ option, but it’s unlikely to happen.

Franco Colapinto shares how Pierre Gasly is trying to solve Alpine’s issues in 2025
Alpine have privately noticed something about Colapinto and can see that his trajectory has been a little more positive in recent weeks. In truth, he has been a little unfortunate not to score points yet this season, but there are seven more chances for that to happen.
First, his team must deliver a car capable of being in the top 10, which Colapinto has just revealed he and teammate Gasly have been working hard behind the scenes to fix in 2025.
“We don’t play padel, because I’m too good,” he joked on F1’s Beyond The Grid Podcast. “We actually played finally a few times in Madrid and with some proper players. They made us humble again. We did play, and he’s a very nice guy. We used to spend time [together] as well last year, when I was in Williams. We’re still quite close and we got on very well, even though we were not racing the same team.
“Now that we are together, he’s been a very good teammate and we enjoy working together. I think we are doing a nice structure and moving the team forward, even though we are sometimes in some tricky moments or having some tricky weekends. You look at the results and you would be like, that’s going to be hard for Alpine to get out of that.
“I definitely feel that we are not getting a part of the results we are having. We are actually pushing all of us for more, in every moment, even if we are in the back,” Colapinto continued.
“I think that’s very important that effort and that view of the team. Even though we are not where we want to be and we are not scoring points, we are still giving it our all and the car starts to be good and when we are up there, hopefully soon, we are ready for it.

How Franco Colapinto is currently on Formula 1’s worst run of form
Stretching right back to last year’s United States Grand Prix, it has now been 15 races since Colapinto finished a race in the points.
Arguably, on merit, there are other drivers that deserve the opportunity he has slightly more, but he comes with the upside of being young.
The more experience he builds, the better he should be down the line. Limiting mistakes is one of the first things he must address.
F1 fans said the same thing about a Colapinto crash in Baku, and think that Alpine have nearly had enough of his errors. The next few races could be huge for him.
