Esteban Ocon is under pressure to stay in Formula 1 beyond the 2026 season, and fans agree that he is in his last seat.

The Frenchman joined Haas from Alpine in 2025 and was expected to be the lead driver over rookie Oliver Bearman. Instead, the Brit had the beating of Ocon, finishing consistently in the points in the second half of the season.

Now, pressure is mounting on the 29-year-old to keep his seat. Ocon’s contract is up at the end of the season, and he has not started the year well.

While Bearman is seventh in the standings, having finished P5 in China, Ocon has one point to his name, scored last time in Japan. As the 2027 rumour mill grinds, many believe his future is bleak.

Recently, The Race posted their prediction for the 2027 grid. In a bold claim, they had Ocon joining Williams in place of Alex Albon, who moves to Alpine, with Yuki Tsunoda replacing the Haas driver.

The prediction drew criticism on Reddit, with several people disputing the claim that Ocon would move to Williams. Instead, they believe that his Haas seat will be his last.

“And Ocon to Williams? If he leaves the Haas seat, I reckon he’s gone from F1,” said one fan, with another pointing out that besides the current drivers, only Nico Hulkenberg has left Haas and remains on the grid today.

Another agreed: “Yeah, if Ocon loses his seat at Haas then I could only see him staying in F1 if he got back into Alpine,” and so did another: “Me too, I think this might be Ocon’s last year.”

“Don’t see Albon going to Alpine, Haas will likely be Ocon’s last seat, and Tsunoda isn’t coming back,” said one user of the predictions.

One fan thinks the Frenchman is in trouble if he loses to Bearman again: “Ocon has to start beating Bearman otherwise it’s probably not gonna be a great outlook.

While another believes that he could potentially end up at another team like Cadillac, or walk from the sport: “More likely that Ocon leaves F1 altogether or somehow ends up at Cadillac, for example. No Camara anywhere?”

What do key figures think of Esteban Ocon’s future in F1?

Ocon’s chances of a new contract are unlikely if he cannot beat his teammate in 2026. The Haas VF-26 is a decent package, but thus far, only Bearman seems to be able to get the best out of it.

Ralf Schumacher thinks Ocon is fighting for his career in 2026. With just one point to his name thus far, he will need to be getting into the points more consistently if he is to stay on the grid.

The likes of Jack Doohan and Ferrari junior Rafael Camara are waiting in the wings to land a seat with Haas. The pressure is all on Ocon to convince the team to keep him on board.
