If Ferrari wants to win championships, they’re going to have to make a lot of changes. They can’t afford to be stubborn, as they have been in the past. In 2025, they weren’t good enough.

There isn’t much point in having a seven-time champion like Lewis Hamilton if they aren’t going to use him to the best of his abilities.

At the age of 41, he brings immense experience and knowledge of title-winning operations. Ferrari should be desperate to listen and learn from him, but so far, they haven’t been too eager.

A rift between himself and the team was clearly visible through parts of last season. Heading into the 2026 F1 regulations, they have to be on the same page, or their journey might end soon.

Ferrari have ‘no chance’ of signing Peter Bonnington from Mercedes in a move to give their driver a little more familiarity.

There are things that he can be doing better, too. Hamilton hates Ferrari’s simulator and it’s something he’s just going to have to get used to. It can be a really handy tool, especially during a new era.

Lewis Hamilton is getting the ‘different things’ he hoped for at Ferrari

Riccardo Adami never understood Hamilton’s need for emotional support, and his departure as his race engineer this week is a positive development.

It’s the first sign that an outcry for help has been listened to, and an appropriate action has followed. It seems best for everyone.

Speaking to the F1 website at the end of last season, the Briton campaigned for his personnel to be switched around a bit, and his team have listened.

“My surroundings in terms of personal personnel, team personnel, how you utilise people, whether people need to move into different positions to work better – all these different things need to be looked upon,” he said.

Hamilton sounded frustrated with Adami just a few weeks ago, but that seemed fairly evident throughout 2025. They just didn’t seem to fuse well together.

A new beginning offers them both a chance to have a reset before going again from March, where Ferrari will have a lot of pressure to perform.

Why 2026 is a free hit for Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari

With so much change in a short span of time, Ferrari have a genuine chance to jump past their rivals if their work has been effective this winter.

Ferrari are leading an ‘alliance’ with Honda and Audi as they attempt to make life a little harder on Mercedes, who are rumoured to have found an engine trick.

A Ferrari customer hinted that Mercedes have the engine ‘advantage’ for now, but the FIA could opt to bring some rules in place to make their life a little bit more tricky.

For now, focusing on themselves will be the best policy in Maranello. The car will almost be ready to hit the track, and their drivers will be desperate to get a taste.
