Oliver Bearman is making a name for himself in Formula 1 after scoring his best finish to date at the Mexican Grand Prix, with Ferrari keeping tabs on his future.

The rookie has produced some impressive performances with Haas in 2025. He has scored points seven times this season, including in the last three races.

The Brit reached Q3 in Austin and Mexico City, finishing ninth in the former. Martin Brundle praised Bearman’s ‘quality’ drive at COTA, and he went even better the following weekend.

Qualifying in ninth, Bearman moved up the field and found himself battling Max Verstappen for fourth. A podium could even have been on the cards, but in the end, he brought his car home in P4 for his best F1 finish to date and Haas’ equal best result in their history.

Lewis Hamilton congratulated Bearman on his ‘mega’ drive at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Likewise, Ferrari praised Bearman for his performance – the team are holding him in high regard for the future.

Ferrari hope Oliver Bearman ‘continues to progress’ after career-best finish at Mexican Grand Prix

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport states that Bearman was signed to Ferrari’s junior programme by Mattia Binotto for 400,000 euros (roughly £352k). Since then, the team have worked on nurturing him, with Fred Vasseur placing Bearman at Haas for less exposure in his rookie season.

Sitting 13th in the standings with 32 points – his Mexican GP result propelled him up the order – Bearman is having a decent rookie campaign in F1. Ferrari are watching his progress closely, with the 20-year-old being a possible option for the team in 2027.

It has been reported that Bearman has been chosen as Hamilton’s successor, with the seven-time champion’s contract expiring in 2026. Unless he extends his deal by another year, a door could be open in Maranello for the Haas driver, but Ferrari will want results.

The report states that the team are ‘hoping that Bearman continues to progress as he is doing in his first full season in F1’. Ferrari want him to keep the momentum going with Haas for the rest of 2025 and in 2026 before a possible move in 2027.

Oliver Bearman is being tipped by many key figures for a Ferrari seat

The 20-year-old’s stock is rising as he continues to impress in his rookie season. Bearman’s salary is set to double in 2026, with him being the lowest-paid F1 driver on the grid in 2025.

If he continues to score strong results, he will certainly have a good case for a promotion to Ferrari. The Formula 1 driver market could make a move relatively easy for Bearman, with Charles Leclerc reportedly speaking to rival teams for 2027.

Furthermore, Ferrari are unlikely to renew Hamilton’s contract. With the possibility of fielding an entirely new driver pairing in 2027, it may almost guarantee a seat for Bearman.

Brundle says Bearman should be in a Ferrari seat the moment it becomes available. His performances with Haas are only improving as weeks go by, giving him a great case to join the Maranello squad.
