Ferrari have been warned that Max Verstappen will be on ‘high alert’ to upset Charles Leclerc at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Following a strong outing in Montreal, where Lewis Hamilton finished second and Leclerc finished fourth, Ferrari head into this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix with a huge chance of victory.
Leclerc, who grew up in Monaco, will be many people’s favourite to secure his first home-race victory since 2024.
Meanwhile, Hamilton is ‘convinced’ Ferrari can win in Monaco following his impressive display in Montreal.
However, Ferrari have now been warned that Verstappen could be out to spoil their party.

Ferrari warned Max Verstappen will be on ‘high alert’ in Monaco
Speaking on the latest episode of the RacingNews365 NL podcast, Dutch racing driver Tom Coronel thinks that Verstappen could win in Monaco.
The Dutchman stated that Ferrari ‘always’ do well in Monaco but claimed that Verstappen will be on ‘high alert’.
Coronel said: “Ferrari actually always does well in Monaco. It seems to be a bit of their home track, where they give it their all.
“Then, of course, you have Leclerc, who always seems to get the maximum out of it in his home race there. It is also a big deal for him and within Formula 1 that he takes pole position.
“Max is, of course, as we all know by now, an otherworldly phenomenon. That means he always manages to get the maximum out of the car. In the last few races, we have really seen Red Bull moving up; they are heading in the right direction.
“The horsepower is there, the handling is there. Last week, of course, he was still struggling with the bouncing. Bouncing is obviously not an advantage. Then you lose grip. But I think that in terms of downforce, skill, and engine, he might just take the top step again this weekend.
“He is on high alert. When you have dealt with so many problems and still manage to squeeze this kind of thing out of it time and again… He has been in a good flow lately. I really think we are going to see great things from him.”

Max Verstappen predicts ‘difficult’ Monaco Grand Prix
Despite Coronel’s confidence in Verstappen, the man himself is predicting a tough weekend in Monaco.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, the four-time Formula 1 world champion stated that the bumpiness of the Monaco track could be a problem for Red Bull.
As reported by Motorsport, Verstappen said: “Anywhere that it’s bumpy is going to be difficult for us.
“That has to do with the philosophy of our car at the moment, how you set it up to take the bumps versus the amount of downforce.”
When asked about Monaco’s bumpiness, Verstappen joked: “Oh yes, that is going to be great. I think I’m going to order a new back!”
