Lewis Hamilton encouraged his Ferrari engineers to keep pushing as he gave a speech in the garage after winning the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

The seven-time champion made history in Barcelona as he claimed his first win for Ferrari. It is his first victory since the 2024 Belgian GP and Ferrari’s first since Mexico City the same year.

The mood has dramatically shifted in the 41-year-old’s garage after a torrid first year with the team in 2025. After this first win with Ferrari, Hamilton is urging his mechanics and engineers to keep going.

Lewis Hamilton tells Ferrari engineers this is ‘the first of many’ after Barcelona win

Ferrari posted their celebrations on X (formerly Twitter), with Hamilton now moving 41 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. In the footage, he is heard giving a heartfelt speech to his engineers.

“Last year was so, so hard for us, and challenging, and I’m so grateful that you guys continue to believe,” he said,

“Keep pushing, it shows. So we’ve got to keep going, this is the first step. Just got to keep building, one step at a time. There’s a long way to go. This is the first, first of many. Grazie!”

The Maranello outfit have made huge strides forward in recent weeks. Martin Brundle says Ferrari are outdeveloping Mercedes, which will be music to Hamilton’s ears, especially as ADUO will gift them more chances to improve the engine.

Mercedes were lacking pace compared to their Italian rivals in Barcelona. At one stage, Hamilton was running two seconds faster than Antonelli, and many believe that he would have won the race without the virtual safety car being deployed.

Nico Rosberg praised Hamilton’s ‘incredible’ onboard footage, as he noticed that he was braking later than anyone else on track. His push for change in Ferrari’s approach, including giving him brakes that he is more comfortable with, has worked a treat.

Now, with Ferrari closing the gap to Mercedes, many are starting to believe that the seven-time champion could be in with a chance to grab his eighth. Hamilton is downplaying his title chances, but after Antonelli’s DNF, he is certainly in the picture.
