Only a few teams have confirmed their driver plans for the 2026 Formula 1 season, amid speculation over George Russell’s contract situation at Mercedes.
Russell has not signed any deal beyond 2025 with Mercedes, although his latest victory at the Canadian Grand Prix suggests that he could extend his deal with an announcement set to be imminent.
Valtteri Bottas was out of contract at the end of 2024 and is currently working at Mercedes as their third driver, but he is looking at options in and outside his current group.
Taking to social media website X (formerly Twitter), the Finn has posted a video that some F1 fans think alludes to where he may end up next season.

Valtteri Bottas hints at Cadillac seat for 2026
Next season, the grid is set to expand to 22 cars when Cadillac becomes the 11th entity on the grid, having received formal approval from the FIA and F1.
Cadillac held a team launch event at the Miami GP earlier this year, but stopped short of confirming their driver plans.
Bottas has been warned there might be one obstacle in his way if he wants a drive at the American team, but F1 fans think his latest social media post hints at possible news on his future.
One fan wrote: “That means what I think that means?” while another felt it was essentially an announcement from the Finn: “Lmao that’s one way to announce it, congrats!!”
Another fan also said: “Subtle hint at next years F1 seat,” while another fan commented: “Are you saying what I think you’re saying, without saying it?”
Two fans feel that Bottas has effectively already confirmed his plans with the post, with one writing: “Bottas to Cadillac: confirmed.”
Another fan also wrote: “Tell us you wanna drive for Cadillac without telling us you wanna drive for Cadillac.”
F1 teams that have confirmed their 2026 plans
Three teams on the grid have yet to confirm either of their drivers so far, including Mercedes who currently have both drivers out of contract at the end of 2026.
Racing Bulls are also in a similar position, although there is expected to be movement if Isack Hadjar continues to impress.
