Formula 1 have revealed their top 10 driver rankings for the 2025 season, voted for by the drivers themselves.
16 of the 20 drivers on the grid ranked everyone on their season based on the current F1 points system. Each driver’s individual top 10 would be added up to create a final table, with Max Verstappen coming out on top.
The Red Bull driver almost pulled off the greatest comeback in F1 history, as he made up 102 points to finish just two points behind Lando Norris after a brilliant resurgence from the team.
What did Formula 1’s team principals get wrong in this list?

Karun Chandhok says Verstappen is the undisputed number one in F1, and it is hard for anyone to disagree. The drivers and team principals certainly do not, as the four-time champion is ranked at the top of both lists.
Norris is second, while the drivers ranked George Russell ahead of Oscar Piastri in third. The team bosses ranked Charles Leclerc harshly, seeing him drop four places from the previous year in seventh – the drivers have him fifth.
Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso are sixth and seventh, respectively, while Alex Albon, Oliver Bearman and Isack Hadjar complete the top 10 as new entries.

F1 fans are glad the drivers served ‘justice’ to Alex Albon in their 2025 rankings
Albon was omitted from the top 10 by the team principals, but the drivers had the Williams star ranked eighth on their list. He finished in that position in the standings, helping the Grove outfit finish P5 in 2025.
Reacting to the rankings on Reddit, fans were delighted to see Albon get recognition from his peers: “Justice served for Albon! Woo hoo 8th place!” said one fan.
| Position | Drivers' Championship | Points |
| 1 | Lando Norris | 423 |

“There’s Albon. Him being left off the TP list was a major miss,” wrote one user, while another said: “Good to know that drivers rate Albon highly.”
Another said: “I mean, the drivers did disagree with the TPs’ underrating of Russell, Leclerc and Albon which was the fans’ biggest complaint about the ranking.”
“Nice to see Albono getting the recognition he deserves (in my humble opinion)” said one fan, while another added: “Much better than the team principal rankings and the F1 Power Rankings. Good to see Albon rated up there with Sainz.”

Alex Albon got the credit he deserved from the drivers after his 2025 heroics
Albon stepped up in 2025 to deliver strong results for Williams. He has been with the team since 2022, and his experience paid off as the team made serious progress with the car.
Despite solely prioritising the 2026 regulations, Albon flourished in the FW47, scoring four P5 finishes across the season. He held onto eighth in the standings after a dip in form in the second half of the season.
Sainz did establish the upper hand at the end of the year, with two podiums in Baku and Qatar. But his teammate’s work should not go without recognition, as he has played a major role in getting Williams into a position to fight near the front.
F1 fans want Albon to score a podium with Williams after seeing Nico Hulkenberg break his streak with Sauber in 2025. It would cap off a brilliant return to F1 after a tumultuous spell with Red Bull.
