Cadillac’s Formula 1 debut is drawing closer, and fans have now been given their first glimpse of what the car will look like when it lines up on the grid at the Australian Grand Prix next month.
As Cadillac try to market themselves as America’s Formula 1 team, they chose to launch their livery during the Super Bowl.
Cadillac have already started a rivalry with Red Bull’s engine supplier, Ford, and Haas will have something to say about Dan Towriss’ team’s claim.

Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas are hard at work preparing for what could be the toughest season of their careers so far.
That might be a stretch given Perez’s final year at Red Bull and Bottas’ pointless 2024 campaign with Sauber.
Regardless of where Cadillac are in the pecking order this season, fans have already declared their love for the new livery, comparing it to the debut design of another classic Formula 1 team.

Cadillac’s 2026 debut F1 livery draws comparisons to BAR and McLaren after Super Bowl launch
The one-minute-long advert was shown during the Super Bowl and set with John F. Kennedy’s ‘We choose to go to the Moon’ speech playing in the background.
It simulated the design and building of the first F1 car, before an asymmetrical black and white design was revealed.
Cadillac will be the only team with an asymmetric design on the grid this season, but that’s not a unique idea in Formula 1, with BAR doing something similar during their debut campaign.
One fan spotted that comparison and said, ‘BAR has entered the chat,’ while another comment read, ‘The boss said he wanted it to look like Merc or the old McLarens… The design team went with both.’
‘Different on each side? Am I seeing that right?’ read another message, and this was echoed by another fan who said, ‘An asymmetric livery? I love it.’
Another comment responded to the advert and said, ‘The ‘Cadillac’ along the side is super clean, and I love the asymmetry. I’m a little worried it’s gonna look too similar to the Merc on TV, though.’
‘The black and silver is a little more safe than I like as a colour choice, but the asymmetry of it is awesome,’ said another fan.
‘It’s the 2026 version of the BAR01,’ declared one comment, while a comparison to McLaren was spotted again, with another suggestion stating, ‘Looks classy, West McLaren type beat.’

Sergio Perez reacts to Cadillac’s 2026 F1 livery as Valtteri Bottas reflects on Barcelona shakedown
Cadillac were the first team to run Ferrari’s new engine on track this season with a short filming run at Silverstone before the Barcelona shakedown.
Reflecting on Cadillac’s testing efforts at the Circuit de Catalunya, Bottas called it ‘really valuable’ before stating: “We still have lots of problems to solve, and a bit of a mountain to climb, but we are getting there step by step.
“Each run, we’re getting better and more together as a team. Each run, we are solving issues and going forward, so that’s good.”
Perez has proved to be commercially valuable to Cadillac already, but his real value will be found on track and in his feedback as the team quickly look to improve over the next 12 months.
Reacting on Instagram to the team’s new livery, Perez said: “Let me introduce you to my @cadillacf1. Proud to represent all of America, proud to be Latino.”
BAR’s asymmetrical zip livery made its debut in 1999 and was actually banned as both cars are required to look the same, and Jacques Villeneuve and Ricardo Zonta’s car actually mirrored each other originally.
Cadillac will hope to do better than BAR’s first season, as they failed to score a point, and Villeneuve only managed to finish four out of 16 races, retiring from the first 11 Grand Prix of the year.
