Fans agree one F1 team have nailed their ‘beautiful’ special livery at the United States Grand Prix

This year’s edition of the United States Grand Prix will feature several special liveries from teams on the grid, and Formula 1 fans have had their say on which of the new looks they like the most.

Six F1 teams arrived at the Circuit of the Americas with a different paint job to the one they have run for the majority of the season, each of which represents their own sentiments.

Aston Martin’s first-ever special livery has seen them adorn their AMR25 in mathematical formulas, whilst Alpine have unveiled a livery that celebrates their partnership with Mercado Libre, which will be the colours they don for all three of the race weekends in Austin, Mexico City and Sao Paulo.

Haas have gone for a classic stars and stripes livery for their home race, and McLaren showed off a Google Gemini-inspired ‘iridescent enhancement’ of their usual livery that will also be on show in Mexico as well.

Racing Bulls have opted for a tortoiseshell-like texture on the VCARB02, in collaboration with American singer Shaboozey, but it’s Williams’ ode to their 2002 livery which has taken the cake for F1 fans.

F1 fans think Williams have the best special livery at the United States Grand Prix

The reason for choosing the 2002 livery for the upcoming United States Grand Prix is due to it being the year that the Grove-based F1 outfit’s title sponsor and American software firm, Atlassian, was established.

It was one of the more successful seasons for Williams in recent years, with Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher clinching second place in the constructors’ standings behind the dominant Michael Schumacher and Ferrari.

Fans quickly took to social media to react to the different colourways, and were posed with the question of which team they thought had the best special livery.

One fan replied: “Williams by a mile”, whilst another shared a similar sentiment with their response of: “Williams and it is not even close.”

Racing Bulls’ livery wasn’t safe from some criticism, with one F1 fan commenting: “Obviously Williams. No idea what the Racing Bulls livery is? Leaves? Lava? Goldfish?”

Another X user gave their opinion on a few of the new looks, posting: “Williams is beautiful and nostalgic too! I like the McLaren. Not fussed about the other two, and the Haas looks terrible.”

The memories that the special livery comes with are one of the main reasons for its success in the eyes of F1 fans. One user commented: “I like the Williams by far the most; reminds me of Montoya’s BMW.”

The livery even transcended one user’s love for the papaya, as they replied: “Although I’m a McLaren fan, that Williams tops all.”

Carlos Sainz was ‘sure’ that Williams’ special livery would be a fan favourite at the United States Grand Prix

Williams have seen an influx of fans after securing Carlos Sainz’s signature, and the Spaniard was certain that they would love the new look before it had been unveiled ahead of the race weekend in Austin.

Speaking in the official press release by Williams, the four-time Grand Prix winner said, “The FW47 looks incredible in this 2002 retro livery, which I am sure will be a fan favourite, and I can’t wait to drive it at Austin this weekend.”

On the team’s chances of securing a good result in Texas, Sainz added, “It’s always great coming back to Austin, and with the Sprint format this year, it’s going to be a really exciting and action-packed weekend on track.

“We’ve had a strong few weeks as a team and are building some nice momentum, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there and hopefully scoring more points to keep hold of P5 in the Championship.

“As an American-owned team, going back to home soil always brings a lot of energy to the weekend, so it will be a busy one, but one of the best weekends of the season.”

The 31-year-old will be hoping to add to his podium heroics from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in September. Sainz’s maiden podium at Williams was celebrated up and down the pit lane, and the British constructor will be hoping to try and replicate it this weekend.
