Max Verstappen is on the verge of F1 Championship glory this weekend, but Tom Clarkson doesn’t see him winning the race.
The 2023 Formula One championship has long been a decided matter with Max Verstappen 177 points ahead of Sergio Perez, his closest contender.
This has left him in a position where he needs just three points this weekend in Qatar, in order to secure his third consecutive championship with five races to spare.
This would result in him tying the all time record for winning with the most games remaining, drawing with Michael Schumacher.
However despite his imminent title win, F1 presenter Tom Clarkson doesn’t see the Dutchman winning on his crowning weekend.

Clarkson gives verdict on Qatar GP
Speaking about this weekend’s upcoming action on the F1 Nation podcast, Clarkson predicted we will see a first time winner on Sunday.
He did however predict that Verstappen would win the championship this weekend as he said, “I think Max is going to win the sprint and he’s going to win the championship at the same time,”.
However continuing with his race prediction he picked a top three without any Verstappen.
“I feel that Lando Norris is due his first win in Formula 1. And if that car is as good as we think it’s going to be, a little bit of misfortune maybe? Remember, we had those four punctures two years ago, just a little bit of misfortune for Max and Norris is in there. So I’m going to go a Norris victory this weekend.
“Closely pursued by his team-mate Oscar Piastri and then I think Checo Perez is going to have dusted himself down after Singapore and Japan and he’s going to put in a solid performance and he’s going to be on the third step of the podium on Sunday.
“So it’s Norris, Piastri and Perez, only because some kind of misfortune has fallen in the way of Max Verstappen.”
