Lewis Hamilton’s struggles in his debut season with Ferrari left him incredibly frustrated, thus making him a terrible driver to interview.

Hamilton has looked rejuvenated this season, performing at the highest level we’ve seen from him since the 2021 season.

After earning his first podium with the team this season, Hamilton has been a driving force in Ferrari’s resurgence so far.

More than his performance, it is his demeanour that has seen noticeable improvement. Hamilton has a spring in his step these days, truly enjoying his performances.

However, there are some who still feel his demeanour in his debut year with Ferrari was unacceptable, as Tom Clarkson shares just how frustrating dealing with a dejected Lewis Hamilton was.

Tom Clarkson explains why Lewis Hamilton was the ‘worst interview’ among F1 drivers last season

Speaking in an interview with Mark Howard, F1 interviewer Tom Clarkson talked about his experience with Lewis Hamilton, especially after his heartbreaking 2021 championship loss.

He noted that while he has enjoyed seeing Lewis Hamilton rejuvenated, his struggles last season really affected him, bringing him down in such a way that made him a very difficult interview.

“There’s a part of me that wishes that Lewis had parked it at the end of 2021, because I think he had the fan sympathy after what happened in Abu Dhabi.

“Imagine if he’d walked away then? We wouldn’t have seen Lewis in a Ferrari. And he loves it too much. He loves driving racing cars.

“Everything I saw in testing in Bahrain as well, Lewis Hamilton is in a car that he is happy driving again, and it’s affected his demeanour off track as well.

“I mean, the number of times after races last year, Lewis was the worst interview ever. Monosyllabic. At one point, I think it was Hungary, he said they needed to change the driver.

“And you just wanted to give him a bit of a slap and say, ‘Lewis! Come on!’… He did say, back in Bahrain, ‘I forgot who I was last year…’”

Lewis Hamilton hoping to earn big wins as season resumes

Lewis Hamilton’s strong start to the season has been a joy to watch for F1 fans, as the sport is at its best when he is in the mix for the championship.

However, Hamilton will be hoping to improve on his start this season and earn his first win with Ferrari as the season resumes.

With Ferrari improving the Macarena wing, along with some other upgrades they’ve made during the hiatus, Hamilton some hope to better his performance so far.

Hamilton could have his first opportunity this weekend, as Ferrari enters the Miami Grand Prix as the team with the most work done on their car.
