Williams Racing driver Alex Albon continues to impress this season after another fantastic result at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Alex Albon has been the class of the midfield in 2025, despite many people believing that the arrival of Carlos Sainz at Williams from Ferrari would cause him a real headache.
Heading into the Dutch Grand Prix, Albon had a 38-point lead over Sainz, and by the time he reached the chequered flag, he had extended that advantage by a further 10 points.
Albon was furious during qualifying, finishing last in Q2 to line up 15th when he felt the car had the pace to reach the top 10 shootout.

| 2 | Lando Norris | 275 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 205 |
| 4 | George Russell | 184 |
| 5 | Charles Leclerc | 151 |

| 7 | Andrea Kimi Antonelli | 64 |
| 8 | Alexander Albon | 64 |
| 9 | Nico Hulkenberg | 37 |
| 10 | Isack Hadjar | 37 |
David Croft said Sainz was creating a ‘big problem’ at Williams with his qualifying performances, but the Spaniard managed to reach Q3 for the first time since Imola and started alongside Fernando Alonso on the fifth row of the grid.
Sainz was penalised for a move on Liam Lawson during Sunday’s race that left him apoplectic and saw him miss out on scoring points once again.
However, it was Albon who really impressed, and fans were amazed that one moment during his race at Zandvoort never featured on the official broadcast.

F1 fans upset Alex Albon’s Dutch Grand Prix start was ignored by broadcasters
At the end of the first lap, Max Verstappen’s daring move on Lando Norris and then his impressive save to avoid crashing into Oscar Piastri were the biggest talking points.
But, all of a sudden, fans noticed that Albon had made up five places at a circuit that’s notoriously narrow and hard to overtake at.
Watching back a replay, one fan said: “Makes adjustments on his wheel while driving .05 behind another car during first lap chaos on a super narrow track. The bandwidth of (most) these drivers never ceases to amaze me.”
“Superb from Albono,” read another comment, while one supporter replied: “Very well done! I was watching the front, then glanced at the timing tower and saw both Williams together and went?”
“Always rated him, guy’s so underrated,” said another person, and one fan explained: “That was really great! He said post-race it was like the seas parted for him, which I thought was funny, but yeah, it kind of did, and he found the space! He made it look so easy, too.”
One person said: “Not showing this on live TV was criminal, not even a replay,” and this was followed up by another comment: “Looks like a video game start on easy mode.”
“The broadcast is doing an absolute disservice to the midfield,” said another fan, referencing the lack of credit given to Albon, while one person confidently said: “Deserves to be in a top team now.”

Alex Albon calls the Dutch Grand Prix the ‘perfect race’ after an impressive fifth-place finish
Speaking in his official post-race interview, Albon said: “I think today was a perfect race. We had a really strong start, and then there were a lot of crashes that helped us.
“I don’t know why there was so much chaos, but we kept it clean and had a good race. We were hoping for rain, and in terms of race strategy, it didn’t look like it was going to be a fun race at all, but I think we made it for ourselves with that strong start.
“By being P10 by Lap 1, it put us in contention for the rest of the race. We kept it on track and picked up the pieces of what went on around us, and got that P5.
“I’m happy to get some good points, especially because with Isack finishing P3, it is important for the championship.”

Albon has little interest in a return to Red Bull after being linked with becoming Verstappen’s next teammate in the future.
He’s shown this season what a talented driver he is, and fully believes in the Williams project being led by James Vowles.
All eyes are on 2026 and whether Williams can return to the top of the constructors’ championship, where several generations of F1 fans are used to seeing them.
