Charles Leclerc has caused the latest stir in the Formula 1 driver market, as rumours suggest that he is considering his future at Ferrari.
Leclerc is contracted until 2029 with the Maranello outfit, making him the most secure driver on the grid. However, the Monegasque driver is unhappy at Ferrari over their lack of performance and results.
The 27-year-old is in his seventh season with the team in 2025, and they have once again failed to provide him a championship-contending car. Leclerc has scored all five of Ferrari’s podiums this season and have yet to win a race.

Leclerc said Ferrari are the fourth-best team after the Singapore GP as they fall further behind McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull in development. He is losing patience in Maranello, with Ferrari having ‘serious’ meetings with key personnel after the race.
With the 2026 F1 regulations looming, the team will be desperate to build a competitive car and end a title drought that has gone on since 2008. They will be under pressure to do so, as Leclerc is said to be considering his options.

F1 fans predict Charles Leclerc will be ‘anywhere but Ferrari’ in 2027 amid Mercedes and McLaren links
The Ferrari star has already been linked with half the teams on the grid, with Leclerc’s manager having contacted Red Bull over a possible move in 2027. They are not the only team that has been approached, as Leclerc’s camp have also spoken to Aston Martin.
Reports state that Leclerc is in ‘discussions’ with Mercedes, with the Silver Arrows previously being linked with Max Verstappen for 2027. Rumours have even speculated that Leclerc could swap with Oscar Piastri at McLaren in what would be a bombshell move on the F1 driver market.
Upon hearing all the speculation, F1 fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to predict who they think the Monegasque driver will race for in 2027. They see Leclerc moving away from Ferrari to challenge for a title.
“Anyone but Ferrari,” said one fan, while another echoed: “Hopefully, anywhere but Ferrari…”
“Definitely not Ferrari,” wrote one user. Another fan said: “It’s either therapy or another team except Ferrari.”
One Ferrari fan does not have faith in the team to provide Leclerc with the right tools, as they wrote: “Not Ferrari, I don’t trust us making a car winning the championship.”
Finally, another user said: I hope in Ferrari with a championship-winning car. But I do think in 2026 if the car is not adequate he will need to ask himself the question. Would I rather not be a world driver’ champion but drive for the Scuderia all my career? Or do I take the risk and go somewhere else?”

What F1 team is Charles Leclerc’s best option for 2027?
Leclerc finds himself in a privileged position when it comes to 2027. He can gauge where the teams are in 2026 and decide his plans from there.
Of course, Ferrari could produce a competitive package and convince him to stay. However, several departments at Ferrari are ‘strained’ as they do not have a ‘unified plan’ for 2026; that will give Leclerc more reason to look elsewhere.

| Aston Martin | Honda |

| Haas | Ferrari |
| Williams | Mercedes |
| Alpine | Mercedes |
| Audi | Audi |
| Cadillac | Ferrari |
The general feeling is that Mercedes will have the best power unit under the new rules, making the Silver Arrows and McLaren attractive options. But James Vowles has played down Mercedes’ superiority, as no one knows where anyone is until they hit the track.
Aston Martin will have Honda engines in 2026, with Adrian Newey building the car, making it an exciting project. Red Bull could also be strong as they become a works team next season.
Leclerc wants to have no ‘regrets’ over his career. Whatever team he chooses for 2027 will be a risk, but he needs to seriously consider his options if he wants to become a world champion.
