Yuki Tsunoda had a miserable Austrian Grand Prix after finishing in last place and 30 seconds off the pace for Red Bull.
The Japanese driver had qualified in 18th place and was hoping to progress through the field, but instead, he struggled for pace and was handed a 10-second time penalty for colliding with Franco Colapinto.
The Japanese driver scored zero points and capped off a pointless day for Red Bull, after Max Verstappen also failed to finish after being taken out by Andrea Kimi Antonelli at the start.
Discussing Tsunoda’s performance on social media, many fans disagreed with Christian Horner’s comments made to F1 TV after the race.

F1 fans disagree with Christian Horner’s comments on Yuki Tsunoda after Austrian GP
Despite the tricky circumstances, Horner felt Tsunoda was not exploiting the potential of the RB21 and thought points were on offer.
“The car is a car that’s evolved over the years around the development path that we’ve taken,” said Horner. “It isn’t an easy car to drive but it’s not that difficult either.”
However, fans think that Red Bull’s tendency to develop their car to favour Verstappen might finally be impacting them in the races.
One fan wrote on social media website X (formerly Twitter): “Yuki Tsunoda battling Franco Colapinto for last place? Now tell me again that Liam Lawson was the problem?”
Another fan said: “Red Bull really needs to get a car that suits both drivers. Tsunoda was doing fine at VCARB suddenly he’s struggling at RB, Lawson was struggling at RB, now he’s doing okay at VCARB (at least compared to Yuki).”
“The car is the problem not Yuki, considering Yuki was doing great in VCARB,” wrote one fan.
Another fan wrote: “Gonna blame it on the car. We have seen Tsunoda do magic with his previous team. I think changing Yuki and Lawson was a bad idea.
One fan felt that Tsunoda was also not the problem, as suggested by Horner: “This is what happens when you make two cars made for one driver style. No points, especially when the other driver has untapped potential.”
Another fan simply wrote: “The second driver isn’t the problem.”
Red Bull must figure out a solution after writing off championship
Red Bull has effectively written off the championship now that Verstappen is over 50 points behind leader Oscar Piastri, while the team is stuck in fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.
Tsunoda has only scored 10 points so far for the team and has struggled to match the performance of Verstappen over the course of race weekends.
It’s clear that Tsunoda isn’t the problem after he is now their third driver, including Sergio Perez, to take on their car.
