Formula 1 fans unanimously expect Charles Leclerc to spend the rest of his career as a Ferrari driver, after the Monegasque signed a new long-term contract for the Scuderia.
The Maranello outfit announced on Wednesday morning that Leclerc has agreed to put pen to fresh terms keeping him in red for the foreseeable future. Ferrari have not confirmed the length of Leclerc’s new contract, only that he has signed a new multi-year deal for the team.
Leclerc was not near to the end of his previous contract for Ferrari, as his prior deal was due to keep him in Maranello through the 2029 season. The 28-year-old agreed to that contract in January 2024 when he had entered the final year of his deal, but he has avoided a repeat.

Leclerc has yet to win a Grand Prix in 2026, but he has taken two podiums through the first five rounds and sits third in the F1 drivers’ standings with 75 points so far. The 2026 season marks Leclerc’s eighth year with Ferrari, having moved to Maranello from Sauber in 2018.
Ferrari promoted Leclerc into their driver line-up to replace Kimi Raikkonen after his rookie F1 season with Sauber. And many F1 fans reacting to the news of Leclerc’s new contract on Reddit fully expect to see the Ferrari Driver Academy product now see out his career in red.
One F1 fan suggested: “Yeah, he isn’t ever leaving. Leclerc will win an F1 title with Ferrari or he’ll never get one, simple as.” Another F1 fan suggested: “Yeah, where else would he go?” An F1 fan also said about his new contract: “It’s no surprise, he is soul-bound to the team.”
News of Leclerc’s latest deal with Ferrari also saw one F1 fan suggest: “This man is going to die in that team.” One fan also claimed: “It has come to a point where imagining him in any other team is just wrong. Ferrari are Leclerc, and Leclerc is (sort of) Ferrari.”
Leclerc being a Ferrari man for the rest of his F1 career is a widely shared belief among fans. Another fan claimed: “To be fair, I can’t see him anywhere else. This guy bleeds Ferrari. Yeah there is a chance Ferrari will not get it right, but if they do, that WDC would be legendary!”
One F1 fan also says the only way that Leclerc would ever leave Ferrari is if he were made to move teams. They declared: “It would have been fun to see him with a different team. But realistically, he’ll never leave unless forced to by Ferrari or by things getting truly hopeless.”
Which driver would you rather have RIGHT NOW: Charles Leclerc or Kimi Antonelli?
Fans reacting to Leclerc’s new contract on X also shared the same belief, with one declaring: “Charles Leclerc staying at Ferrari. Is this going to be forever?”
Even without Leclerc’s latest contract, he is close to setting the new record for amassing the most Grand Prix starts for the pride of Italy. Leclerc can break Michael Schumacher’s record for the most races for Ferrari, with the Monegasque now boasting 155 to the German’s 180.
Leclerc surpassed Raikkonen for second place in the list of F1 drivers with the most races for Ferrari earlier in 2026, as the Finn enjoyed a total of 151 across his two stints. Leclerc has so far taken eight Grand Prix wins, 27 pole positions and 52 podiums over his starts for Ferrari.
