At the halfway stage of the Formula 1 season, there are only a few guarantees for the rest of the campaign.
It’s probably safe to say that Sauber aren’t going to be challenging for the Constructors’ Championship any time soon and would be happy just to score a point.
Max Verstappen looks likely to secure the fourth world championship of his career, although he’s not having it all his own way with the grid converging in recent months.
However, he’s also being aided by the drivers behind in the standings constantly taking points off each other.
Eddie Jordan was speaking on the Formula For Success Podcast about one driver who has suffered a significant dip in form recently.
Sergio Perez is making all the headlines after once again failing to score points at Silverstone.
Perez’s Red Bull future is in serious doubt and he may have just two races to save his career.
However, another driver who is struggling and should be competing much closer to the front of the grid is Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari have had a difficult time recently and Carlos Sainz was praised by Verstappen despite only finishing 5th at the British Grand Prix.
Since Leclerc’s win at the home race in Monaco, his form has suffered and while he’s had plenty of bad luck, he needs to carve out a couple of good results before the summer break after falling behind Lando Norris in the Drivers’ Championship.

Eddie Jordan can’t understand what’s happened to Charles Leclerc
Talking about two drivers who struggled again at Silverstone, Jordan said: “The situation in terms of losers, Checo [Perez] is such a massive disappointment, I just don’t know what’s going on there.
“And indeed Charles Leclerc, having won at been the darling of everybody in Monaco, royalty, everybody was bowing to his greatness and that was a great race to win.
“But nevertheless, you’ve got to capitalise on those race wins and make sure that build on it.
“Otherwise the foundation is gone and I’m struggling to find out why or where is that speed gone that he showed so clearly in Monaco and in other races in the past.
“So, we need to watch that.”

Ferrari’s botched update in Spain has created a setback for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz
Ferrari started the season as Red Bull’s closest challenger and according to the Constructors’ Championship, they’re still the best of the rest on the grid.
However, they’ve lost a lot of ground to McLaren and Mercedes and if Lando Norris hadn’t retired in Austria they’d be third in the standings.
Ferrari brought a big set of updates to the Spanish Grand Prix but unfortunately, it’s not worked as expected.
Instead, both drivers had to spend time during practice at Silverstone working on different set-ups to figure out what was going to work best.
Frederic Vasseur has secured some big signings – including Lewis Hamilton – for next year which should set them up brilliantly for the new regulations in 2026.
However, they’ll know that Charles Leclerc needs to start turning things around quickly after the euphoria of taking the chequered flag at his home race in Monte Carlo.
