Eddie Jordan has now said that if he was in charge of Red Bull he would be approaching McLaren driver Oscar Piastri to replace Sergio Perez.
Speaking on the Formula for Success Podcast, Jordan was discussing the Mexican’s future with David Coulthard.
It seems mad to be suggesting that a team as dominant as Red Bull might be unhappy with one of their drivers.
They’ve already wrapped up the Constructors’ Championship with six regular races still to go.
However, Max Verstappen is on the verge of winning a third driver’s title and has been virtually unchallenged all season.
Sergio Perez won two of the first four races but has failed to stand on the top step of the podium ever since.

He’s managed five podiums since then in the time Verstappen has recorded 11 wins.
Jordan has now suggested that if he was in charge of Red Bull, he would want McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to replace Perez.
The young Australian recorded his first podium in Japan and since the British Grand Prix has been one of the standout drivers on the grid.
Piastri backed to replace Perez at Red Bull by Jordan
Speaking about the 22-year-old, Jordan said: “Ann [Webber, driver manager and wife of Mark Webber] did tip me off, she said, ‘Listen, I have to tell you this guy is the real deal’.
“And I think he is the real deal. Full marks to McLaren they’ve signed him until 2026 because they’ve needed to because he will be a very sought-after driver.
“And if I was in Red Bull and I was thinking of replacing Checo [Perez], he’d be the one I’d have in my mind.”
Although Jordan thinks Piastri might be a good Perez replacement, Red Bull might be looking elsewhere.
Christian Horner has admitted that his McLaren teammate Lando Norris is of interest to them right now.

The young Brit has recorded four second-place finishes this season and is quickly rising up the driver’s standings.
He’s not going to catch Perez before the end of the season, but there’s a reason McLaren have tied Piastri down to a new contract and Norris’s deal runs until 2025.
They know full well they might have the two most exciting talents on the grid at their disposal.
