Eddie Jordan has admitted he’s a huge fan of Ferrari star Charles Leclerc and if he was putting a team together right now, would hire him ahead of Fernando Alonso.
Charles Leclerc is one of the most talented drivers in Formula 1 at the moment, with Martin Brundle even suggesting he might be quicker than Max Verstappen.
Speaking on the Formula For Success Podcast, Jordan and David Coulthard were naming their ideal driver partnerships.
The Formula 1 driver market is already a hot topic of conversation despite the season not starting until the end of next month.
The majority of the grid see their contracts expire at the end of the year meaning plenty of drivers and teams are hoping to secure their futures sooner rather than later.
Ferrari want to offer Leclerc a bumper new deal and Eddie Jordan believes the Monegasque is one of the best options on the grid.
So much so, that if he was to start his own team once again, he’d definitely have the 26-year-old in his car.
He’d pair with another one of the most exciting prospects on the grid.

Jordan admits he’s a huge fan of Ferrari star Leclerc
Asked to name his desired line-up, Jordan said: “I’m a huge fan of [Charles] Leclerc and I’d probably have him in there for sure.
“Lewis [Hamilton] would be very hard to overlook, that’s for certain although time and years aren’t in his favour.
“I’d be sort of thinking of further down the road so therefore I wouldn’t have Alonso in there and I wouldn’t have Lewis necessarily.
“I’m going for Leclerc and Lando [Norris] to be honest. That would be the team that I would like.”
Ferrari chiefs will echo the thoughts of Jordan and must believe that Leclerc is the future of the team.
He will be getting increasingly frustrated that his performances on a Saturday aren’t being converted to wins on a Sunday.
The Ferrari simply couldn’t maintain the pace required to challenge Max Verstappen’s Red Bull despite regularly outqualifying him.
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has admitted he’d like to see Leclerc succeed Verstappen as champion.
He’ll need an awful lot of things to go his way to make that happen one day.
