Although the drivers on the grid haven’t changed much in the last 18 months, there’s still some exciting young talent getting better and better with each passing race.
It’s important to remember that Max Verstappen is currently in pole position to win his fourth consecutive world championship but won’t turn 27 until the end of September.
He’s part of a generation of drivers hoping to take over from the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso as the established stars of Formula 1.
Eddie Jordan was speaking on the Formula For Success Podcast about another young driver he believes will be a future world champion one day.
Arguably the most exciting driver pairing on the grid right now is at McLaren.
Lando Norris is Formula 1’s most recent newest winner after securing a well-deserved victory in Miami.
The 24-year-old Brit is Verstappen’s closest challenger in the Drivers’ Championship this season, although Norris has been frustrated with some of his recent performances.
His teammate is Oscar Piastri, currently in his second season in Formula 1.
He already has four podiums and 221 points to his name and Jordan is a huge fan of the young Australian.

So much so, that from what he’s seen in his first 34 Grand Prix, he believes that not only is he going to be a future world champion, but one of the all-time greats in F1.
It’s a lot to ask of a driver who is still waiting to win his first Grand Prix following his victory in the Sprint Race in Qatar last year.
However, there’s a reason McLaren decided to give him a new long-term contract midway through his first campaign.

Eddie Jordan ‘absolutely certain’ Oscar Piastri will be an ‘all-time’ Formula 1 great
Speaking about the 23-year-old driver, Jordan said: “I do want to say a little thing about Oscar Piastri because yet again he’s suffered badly.
“We know in Austria about the track limits and he suffered different situations every time.
“So, the experience he’s getting and this time he had to do a lap in undrivable situations on slick tyres and that is the most uncomfortable thing because you need to keep the car on the track.
“I think that with everything that he’s learning and all of the downsides and the things that are really hurting him at the moment, I must tell you that I think he’s learning a huge amount from it.
“He’s learning from McLaren of course and he’s learning from Lando [Norris] and he will be, and this is just me looking into my crystal ball in the future, I am absolutely certain he will be a world champion within a very short number of years.
“He has everything that I think a world champion should have and he is now gaining so much experience in that team and I have confidence that he’s going to be one of the all-time future kings of our sport.”

Oscar Piastri unlucky not to achieve his first race win at Silverstone
Piastri currently sits fifth in the Drivers’ Championship after overtaking the struggling Sergio Perez after another strong performance at Silverstone.
During tricky conditions, he fended off Max Verstappen before overtaking both Mercedes drivers and challenging Lando Norris for the lead of the race.
That proved to his downfall as instead of double-stacking in the pit lane, Piastri ran for one more lap and the worsening conditions meant he lost too much time to challenge for victory in the final stint.
David Coulthard has told Piastri he needs to learn from the experience and be more demanding in the future.
Jenson Button also wasn’t a fan of Piastri failing to pit behind his teammate, but given how quick he is and how fast the McLaren cars are, it won’t be long before he’s fighting to stand on the top step of an F1 podium once again.
