Three-time champion Max Verstappen has shared what he would like to do in the future when he eventually quits Formula 1.

Verstappen was speaking on the Talking Bull Podcast and reflecting on another incredible season with Red Bull.

The Dutch driver has to now be considered an all-time within the sport.

Only four drivers have now won more championships than Max Verstappen.

He can match Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost with one more win before he then has the task of trying to catch Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.

However, whether Verstappen stays in the sport for long enough to do that is another matter.

There have always been whispers that the 26-year-old might have his heart set on racing in another series one day.

One journalist this year previously suggested that he wouldn’t be surprised to see him team up with Nico Hulkenberg in the future away from F1.

Verstappen has now opened up on what he would like to do in the future if he ever leaves Formula 1.

It would be interesting to see if he would be just as dominant in another car.

Verstappen discusses future away from Formula 1

Verstappen and his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase were discussing if they could compete in any other motorsport series together, what would it be?

Verstappen simply said: “Endurance,” and host Nicola Hume added: “Like Le Mans?”

Verstappen replied: “Yeah,” and Lambiase agreed, saying: “I’d be happy to do that, it’s a different challenge isn’t it?

The 26-year-old explained further and said: “Once you’ve done so many years in F1, you don’t want to do this forever right? You can’t unfortunately.

“And that’s also a very different way of approaching it as you’re sharing the car with other drivers as well, so it’s quite a different kind of approach.

“I mean you still go in there to win it, but you have to think about the three drivers, they all have a bit of a different driving style and there’s a lot more going on.

“It’s a bit of a different experience, it’s not like a one-and-a-half hour, two-hour sprint racing, it’s proper endurance, so the whole mentality and mindset is different.”

A future in Formula 1 without Max Verstappen is very hard to imagine right now.

Red Bull will be doing everything they can to make sure their three-time champion wants to stay with them for as long as possible.

Their partnership has been nearly impossible to beat this season and Sergio Perez has shown that not just any driver could reach that level.

However, everything can change next year especially when the next big rule change comes about in 2026.
