Oscar Piastri performed admirably at the Italian Grand Prix for McLaren, finishing in second place ahead of his teammate Lando Norris.
The Australian pulled off a superb move around the outside at Della Roggia chicane, taking the lead from Norris on the first lap in a decisive overtake.
McLaren has the luxury problem of two drivers who can battle at the front and win races despite being among the younger drivers on the grid.
Piastri has gone from strength to strength this year, winning his first race at the Hungarian Grand Prix and consistently scoring top-five finishes.
Davide Valsecchi believes Oscar Piastri pulled off ‘the best move of the season’

Piastri has enjoyed the blisteringly fast McLaren, which is the car to beat on most circuits in Formula 1 and been able to sharpen his skills racing at the front.
The overtake on the first lap of the Italian Grand Prix changed the face of the race as Piastri swept around the outside, and Norris dropped into third place behind Charles Leclerc.
This stopped them from taking full control of the Grand Prix as Ferrari had Leclerc splitting the two McLarens.
Piastri led in the opening stages after completing a move on his teammate at a tricky part of the circuit that has seen many drivers make contact in wheel-to-wheel combat.
Davide Valsecchi believes the overtake was superb, and the Della Roggia chicane is a difficult part of the track to keep the car stable when on the outside.
He said on the F1 Nation podcast: “Probably the best move of the season, that one of Oscar Piastri, and incredibly difficult on the outside in Della Roggia. It’s very tough.
“When you turn in, you lose always the rear. Always the rear because it’s downhill, and then it’s flat when you turn left. So you lose the rear.”
Oscar Piastri’s 2024 campaign is building momentum after taking his fifth podium of the year

Piastri has driven brilliantly in recent races, finishing in the top five in the last six races, including his maiden win in Hungary.
The ice-cool Australian makes minimal errors and is becoming more decisive when battling other drivers on the track.
This is a key quality at the front of the field, as the margins are so fine and at some tracks overtaking can be quite difficult.
The 23-year-old should continue to build on his strong run of form as McLaren continue to understand how to be a winning team once more.
