Former F1 World Champion Damon Hill has now shared whether he would rather be driving this season’s McLaren or Ferrari.

Hill was discussing the two teams’ current offerings with journalist Tom Clarkson and Pedro De La Rosa on the F1 Nation Podcast.

After a long mid-season break, Formula 1 fans can finally start to get excited again about the resumption of the 2023 season.

At the top of both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, the contest is already over.

Max Verstappen would have to suffer a disastrous final 10 races to miss out on winning a third title.

Red Bull currently have more than double the points of second-place Mercedes.

While the Red Bulls drive off into the distance at Zandvoort this weekend, the battle will be between the best of the rest for the final spot on the podium.

Mercedes, McLaren, Ferrari and even Aston Martin will fancy their chances.

Damon Hill has now shared what car he’d rather be in for the rest of the season between McLaren and Ferrari.

Both teams will be eyeing a top-three finish in the championship by the end of the season.

Their battle over the next few months should be absolutely fascinating.

Hill chooses between Ferrari and McLaren

The 1996 F1 World Champion was asked by Clarkson: “Damon [Hill], would you rather be driving this year’s Ferrari or this year’s McLaren and I’m talking about the McLaren post the Austria upgrade?”

Damon Hill: “Absolutely McLaren. They seem to be making the right decisions and going in the right direction.”

McLaren are arguably the most exciting team on the grid to follow right now.

In Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri they have two of the best young talents in motor racing.

Norris is still chasing their first win in Formula 1 and has come desperately close on several occasions.

His Australian teammate became one of only a handful of rookies to ever lead an F1 lap during their maiden season in the sport during the Sprint Race in Spa.

Hill’s decision to choose McLaren over Ferrari makes a lot of sense based on their form before the summer break.

Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur will hope to wrestle back that advantage in the Netherlands this weekend.

Carlos Sainz has admitted this season has been ‘frustrating’ but there’s still plenty of time to improve their fortunes.
