Damon Hill appears to agree with Fernando Alonso by raising a major ‘concern’ about Formula 1 following the British Grand Prix.
On Sunday afternoon, Charles Leclerc won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as he finished ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell and Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton.
The race itself was filled with dramatic moments and a good amount of overtakes, including a tight battle between the likes of Hamilton, Russell and Max Verstappen, who were fighting for P3.
Eventually, Verstappen spun out, and Kimi Antonelli had to endure another car problem.
Further down the grid, Aston Martin’s Alonso came home in 18th place, a lap behind the winner.

Damon Hill warns F1 is on the verge of an ‘AI takeover’
Speaking about the latest era of F1, Alonso did not hold back as he claimed that there is no ‘talent’ involved in the sport anymore.
The two-time world champion suggested that all drivers have to do is just press a button.
As reported by Marca, Alonso said: “I didn’t watch the race today. Yesterday, I saw a brief replay of the sprint, with people overtaking in the middle of the straight using extra battery power.
“So, you don’t need any driver skill or talent to overtake the car ahead. You don’t need to out-brake anyone, you don’t need to pass around the outside, and you don’t need to take risks.
“You just press a button and overtake if you have more power than the car in front.”
In response, 1996 F1 world champion Hill appeared to agree with Alonso as he raised his ‘concern’ about the future of the sport while responding to the Spaniard’s comments.
Hill, who drove for Brabham, Williams, Arrows and Jordan, claimed that the sport is ‘on the verge’ of being taken over by AI (Artificial Intelligence).
The 65-year-old has urged everyone involved to ‘understand what we want for ourselves’ and ‘claim it ASAP’.
Hill wrote on X: “This is my concern. We are on the verge of an AI takeover for humanity.
“We need to understand what we want for ourselves and claim it ASAP. F1 is a harbinger of the Shape of Things To Come.”

Ever since the 2026 F1 regulations were put to practice in Melbourne, criticism has been directed at the FIA from drivers, team principals and fans.
Earlier in the season, Verstappen threatened to retire from F1 due to his discontent over the new rules, which he compared to playing ‘Mario Kart’.
Looking ahead, it has been mooted that the engine power split will be changed ahead of 2027, with less reliance on battery.
Meanwhile, FIA boss Mohammed Ben Sulayem has also hinted at a return of the V8 engines, which are popular among drivers and fans.
