Charles Leclerc has once again emphasised how much he has learned from Lewis Hamilton since they became teammates at Ferrari.
Hamilton, the most successful driver in F1 history, joined Ferrari at the start of the 2025 season, replacing Carlos Sainz.
Leclerc comfortably beat Hamilton in their first year together, outscoring him 242-156. But the regulation changes appear to have helped the British driver, who sits just three points behind after the opening five rounds of 2026 (75 vs 72).
Should Charles Leclerc be worried about Lewis Hamilton’s upturn in form?
Lewis Hamilton ‘has a very precise working method’
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Leclerc was asked what the Ferrari teammates have learned from one another in the past 18 months.
Leclerc has analysed ‘every single thing’ about Hamilton since he moved to Maranello, and it’s the veteran’s ‘working method’ that stood out to him most of all.
He has previously raced alongside Sebastian Vettel, another legendary driver, and Carlos Sainz, a multiple Grand Prix winner and one of the most respected racers on the grid.
Is Charles Leclerc good enough to win multiple F1 world championships?
“What has he learned from me? I really don’t know!” Leclerc said. “But I know what he gave me, a lot. A driver who has won as much as Lewis has a very precise working method, one that in some ways has opened my mind.
“I’ve been very fortunate in my career: I’ve had incredibly talented teammates, and each of them has given me something and allowed me to grow.”
Charles Leclerc reveals how he’s changed since joining Ferrari
Hamilton was impressed by Leclerc from the outset, though he did put the disparity between the two drivers last season down to his adaptation period.
Leclerc has raced for Ferrari since 2019, building what Hamilton has called a ‘well-oiled machine’ on his side of the garage over several years.
But given that he joined the Scuderia in just his second season, Leclerc has had to develop as a driver. He feels he has become more patient and level-headed.
“Sometimes I think about how much we’ve been through since then,” he reflected.
“Today I’m much more patient, because when you’re young, you experience every situation with great emotion, but now I’ve learned to look beyond the individual incident. This has allowed me to overcome even some major disappointments
